[disclaimer] I am no computer expert, to say the least ...but:

When I hooked up a new router last August (got a new one with my new PC), I had to change/reset the passwords in the new roter's settings.
I have two laptops, and the strange part was that one of them kept an internet connection while the second one didn't.

I reset the new routers passwords and typed them into the laptops, and it's been great since.

thats because the old comp contains the old WEP (password). with a new router, EVERYTHING changes. Equipment IP address, WEP, everything. the proper way to install a new router are these steps.

        1) have EVERYTHING turned off
        2) boot up your modem (DSL, Cable, T1) until it locks on.
        3) plug in your router till it locks on
        4) turn on all your computers.
        5) follow the instrucs to get into the routers program
        6) set up your SSID (network name)
        7) set up your WEP ( i dont rec. any other type of security other than wep because some OS can not handle them.)
        8) get into your wireless conn on your comp.-s
        9) once a connection has been established, type in your WEP key (password) normally twice
        10) once the wireless network says its connected, open up your explorer, firefox, which ever net browser you use.

you should be online. I do not rec. having more than 3-4 comp. locked on to your router either hardwired or wireless. its just causes a lag in service. but your net connection is only as fast as your computer...

        Hope this helps
