  • Ever have a day that goes NOTHING according to plan?

Yesterday was just that for me.

Wife and I about ran ourselves ragged last year on new year's day, spending time with our families, and with the new guy at home, we decided we would just have the day in, just mommy, daddy, and matthew. Sure we'd do a few projects, but it'd just be the three of us.

My wife's cousin was supposed to stay the night with us new year's eve, and go home in the morning, but decided he'd just go home and come back for a while in the morning. OK, fine, whatever. He got to the house around 10, and stayed until 5-freaking-30. All the while wife and I are doing projects around the house, trying to keep the baby content as well. Aside from holding the baby 2 times throughout the day, wife's cousin didn't lift a finger to help. About 5:15 I was wore out from daily projects, and decided to take a shower. As I'm walking towards the bathroom, I hear cousin say "Well, I think I'll just kick back and relax a while". Are you kidding me?! What have you been doing all day?! I texted my wife (I love covert communications) from the bathroom and said "he's gotta go..." So my wife started dinner, he asked what we were having, she told him, he decided to go home.
So he gets home and calls us, asking if he and his mom can come over! You gotta be kidding me! Wife said no. Thank God.

Wife's sister calls at 7, says that since her parents aren't home she's coming over to show my wife the dress she bought for one of the little girls in her wedding. Wife hangs up, I just say "you kidding? couldn't you just see her tomorrow?" "Didn't think of that". ARGH!

So, on a day that was supposed to be just me, wife, and baby, turned out to be maybe 3 waking hours of that.
Ah well. Date night tonight w00t!

Re: Ever have a day that goes NOTHING according to plan?

Ugh I know what you mean... My wife and I went to her parent's house for xmas.... there 3 days We left from there, for like 2 days together for our anniversary(our 1st anniversary). Then we stopped by there place on the way back...

To find out... dun dun dun.... they want to drive across the state to daytona, to spend it at our place, they were gong to stay for a few days she invited her brother, and some other people. We are being told this on Dec 29th, that tey wil be showing up around 10am on 31s. Its 4pm and we are still 3 hours from home and my wife has to go back to work and play catchup since she took time off and the holidays.

So we went from me, finishing up my job of 8 years which is an 80 mile one way commute one way. Just kind of stressful tieing up all the loose ends to last minute holiday prepping, to my 1st anniversary, now I have to host a small new years eve party.

Which is going to be a *****, because our house is only 70% unpacked, we moved here 2 months ago, wife and I work full time, and I spent 4-5 days in another city a week. I spent literally 9 hours straight prepping my house for this, prepping it so its clean/nice to having 5 extra people spend the night. 1 day after we get back from being out of town for 6 days. Also wife has to work on both days prepping for work.

We had planned to have a new years together.... but her bossy *** mom made plans, its one thing to make a let down to just them, but they set up plans for several people.

then the kicker... Her mom says "we thought we would stay here for a couple days, I wanna see daytona" What the ****? You live on the beach on the other side of the coast. Its like every other Beach place, some seafood lunch style places on the beach. Stores that sell stupid tourist shirts 3 for $10, some sand, some beach, some palm trees, etc....

So we showed her Daytona yesterday...

Racetrack, she doesn't care about, 100s of biker bars/tattoo places/bike shops and harley dealers... she doens't like any of that. The beach... only difference is, the waves are bigger on the coast and you can drive on this beach. Its also 60* so not beach weather.

Let her realize its not a "ritsy fancy, you walk down a street and shop and check out antique shops" like she likes to do. Especially the whole time her Daughter has to work, and help entertain in between.

Thank god they wanted to leave today.

I am broke... I quit my job, I have no income. I am starting school on monday, I am looking at like $8-10k in school bills. I have no loans yet. I just went on a 2 day vacation getaway and all the holidaystuff. I don't need to be running around entertaining people, paying for everyone's lunch or dinner occasionally so i don't feel like a freeloader, who went to your house for the holidays, then when you come to my place I make you pay for everything.

Not saying I am dirt poor but I really can't afford these luxuries....

then of course the typical, her mom telling us what we shoudl to change in OUR LIVES

You guys should get a bigger TV... oh really, we have never wanted a bigger TV... maybe a thing called "money" affects it. Thats what I need to do, right before we go down to 1 income, and add on a crapload of school bills, I should go buy a bigger then 32 in. TV. Definite priority.

You guys should rip out the landscaping and redo it.... Uhm stuff we have looks fine, and we rent, why would I pay to re-landscape a place I rent?

What did you guys do on your anniversary... All you did was go on a sunset sailboat ride? Eat out a few times, Meet with a Friend for a day. Why were you in the Hotel so much? Your fuddyduddies...

We aren't fuddyduddies, we had our 1 year anniversary WE WERE ****ING, thats what people do during romantic getaways... They enjoy time with their loved ones and **** alot. If I said we were ****ing you would get all huffypuffy about it, and complain we were being crude or some ****.

      LOL.

We took our daughters over to her moms for 2 days and her mom wanted to keep them for 5. We had to say no, 3 days is enough.

LOL pretty much... I said do you like biker stuff? DO you like neighborhoods that probably have Meth Labs? Do you like Nascar/auto racing?

She said no to each one, and was shocked that she didn't think Daytona is nice.

I told her, during BCR, Bike Week, Biketoberfest, spring break, speedweeks, people just come to Daytona, **** it up, then leave. And an assload of old people...

It's even worse, she has lived right near/on the beach in FL for 20 years. What do you expect to be different?
