to me its like having sex with an ugly twin sister...who still isnt all that bad, just has some moles in odd places, and doesnt have an @$$, and kinda smells like goat cheese....yeah, kinda like that.

dont get me wrong, i love my bird, but give me a ls1, id take it in a heartbeat.

your entire aguement hasnt made one bit of sense from the begining and it blows my mind that you want to argue about the power level of a world class engine that created a entire new engine platform that has been the standard of which almost every single other v8 built is compared to. if not for the ls1 there would be no ls7 z06 or zr1, everyone knows its not the greatest engine available now, but every GM v8 engine produced today uses the ls1 as its building block.

you talk about these "inferior engines" from the past. guess what, they are in every single way. you are in over your head. i advise you sit this one out before you get schooled because you have no idea what youre talking about.
im sorry, but the ls1 numbers arent impressive at all.

now, speaking of the ls2, yeah, that is pretty impressive for a stock engine to be making as much power as it does

                  ls1 - .87 hp/ci - 1.01 hp/ci

                  ls2 - 1.085 hp/ci - 1.131

even the least powered ls2 makes more hp/ci than the most powerful ls1.. and you cant tell me that the ls2 was a specially made engine

look, im not trying to bash the ls1, i love that engine, i will probably stick an ls1 in my car once it dies, but it is just not impressive at all to me

just for a comparison, the 3.8l has a hp/ci number of .865 (or .887, i am finding conflicting information).. which isnt very far off from some of the ls1's

and im talking about STOCK engines here, the ls1 can be very potent when modded, im sure with an equally built ls1 vs. gen1, the ls1 will kick its *** in every subject

and dont tell me i have no idea what im talking about. im not about to get "schooled" by anyone because i have not said anything that was untrue

smokepanther has burned you more than once in this thread.

its been said more than once nobody cares about hp/ci. you have yet to have any other arguement other than that. all youre trying to do is split hairs and bring up the same thing over and over and then bring up other motors that are nothing more than ls1 based motors in the first place.

the ls1 vs gen1 motor arguement is moot too, because most of the gen1 motors made good power on paper but reality is they had **** powerbands and were lucky to break out of the 14s at the track. a ls1 fbody spinning for 100 feet down the track can do that and still trap 5mph faster and in the hands of 2 equally skilled drivers the gen1 would eat dirt 9 times out of 10. so big deal they sound mean and have power until 4k rpm, but after that theyre out of breath.

Wasn't the point of that initial comment that everyone has FUTURE plans, so for now we are only talking about stuff that has already been done??

and the only reason smoke panther "burned me" in your (and his mind) is that you people dont realize the significance in 1hp per ci.. or even 100hp per L as what GM wanted to do with the corvette.

BTW i have a gen1 with all gm parts and a 2 bolt main block that has the rpm potential of seeing 8400rpm shifts.. i would like to see the same thing said about an ls1..

I laughed at that one too. But then, this whole thread makes me laugh...kind of a shake-your-head-in-disbelief laugh, but still...
