      Re: Upgrading OS

I'm installing Windows 7 on my laptop now. Test show it to perform better than XP and Vista. Looks like Vista may end up being the second coming of ME.

        Re: Upgrading OS

I have Vista, as stated above. Now when Windows 7 is released, will that just be a download/update on my part, or do I have to take my tower to a shop to have it installed?
I don't want the Beta version. I'd like to have the standard version when it's released.

              Re: Upgrading OS

I haven't really liked a version of windows since 95. Xp64 was the first one I had that worked. But over time, it needed all these ridiculous service packs and crap. So, on my new laptop I got vista. I like it actually. Its not exactly resource-effecient, but I hadn't really needed for speed on my laptop.

Then I tried out linux. How did I live without it for so long? I still keep vista , but I dual boot into linux every once in a while, and keep a knoppix emulation on a virtual machine for kicks.

If you have any basic computer knowledge, you will love linux.

heh. I thought I'd include a little picture of my other laptop (well this is from wikipedia since I don't have a pic handy) but I cannibalized the hard drive to repair my mp3 player, so a couple of months ago...it unfortunately no it does not run. But it worked faithfully for 11 years! So toshiba+windows 95=lasts forever
