Well guys a few weeks ago I heard about a really great deal on an 01 mitsubishi eclipse. The owner only wanted 1250 to get it out of the yard with 112,980 miles on it. They bought the vehicle for their daughter when she turned 16 but soon after ran into the back of a parked truck and caused damage to the drivers side fender, headlamp assy., and bumper. It also has a set of aftermarket 17" chrome wheels. For the longest I tried to find out more information since I didnt personally know the girl but after doing some detective work I finally got a chance to take a test drive and told the them I was very interested.

I almost cleaned out my bank account and purchased the vehicle. So far the only things ive found wrong are tires, shocks, and maybe some front steering and suspension parts. All the body materials to fix this little gem will cost me less than 400 bucks with ebay parts new. Team this with a good cheap macco paint job and ill have a nice DD and gas saver as this vehicle is the 2.4L mated to a 5 speed so no more slushbox.

This does not mean the end to my maro but it will definitely take a backseat for awhile seeing as its running a little on the downside, gets horrible mpg, tranny needs rebuilt, and the motor has started to get a slight knock... I cant really complain about this because shes been really good to me for the past 5 years and almost 100k miles by my hands but its time for something new and I couldnt pass this deal up.

Anyway feel free to comment as you wish, and yes after getting my eclipse fixed im going to start working on the Maro in my spare time.

Yea its a fun to drive and some of you may strike me down for saying but I have to say that since its a Manual its more fun to drive than my Camaro. But the Maro is faster by all means.

If your camaro is nickel-and-diming you, then it's probably time to move on. I had an '86 Trans Am that was doing that to me, and I traded it in for a '96 Camaro. My '86 T/A was much faster than the 3.8l Camaro, but the camaro was new.

I'm sure I'll catch heat for saying this, but faster isn't always better. Especially when faster means that you break down more often. If given a choice, I'll take reliability over speed.

It hadn't started to nickel-and-dime me yet but its already got ignition issues and the tranny slips in OD at highway speeds so its was on its last leg before needing an overhaul on alot of things to keep me on the road reliably. Just before purchasing the Eclipse it was starting to worry me when just driving around town as to whether or not it was going to get me home. So its time to move on and fix up a newer more reliable vehicle till I can get the spare time and cash to rejuvenate the aging f-body.

where ya located? I have a 3.8 and tranny with 48k on both out of an 01...

Im located in northwestern alabama. It would be nice to put a 3.8 in it but im not too inclined to swap the wiring harness since ive got the 3.4. Not to mention needing a 3.8 crossmember. Thank you for the offer however:wavey:archer.

i picked up an 01 a few months back for 500$ had a broke timing belt i have less than a grand in it =) good car for a DD but i would never mod it.. and i wouldn't call it a gas saver it only gets 25MPG on the highway with the 2.4L and a 5speed behind it..

Mine is doing great so far on gas. I put 5 1/2gallons of gas in the thing when I bought it and ive drove over 100 miles on that all city and backroad miles which is around 23-24mpg, either way its a hell of a gas saver compared to my F-body.
