  • Sales price of loaded Firebird back in 1995 and also 2002?

    Hi,

This is definitely not a tech question so I thought I would pose it here.

What did people pay back in 1995 for a loaded (power windows, audio controls on the wheel, etc) V6 Firebird? I can't even find MSRP and I bet most paid less.
Of course it varies by area but assume the high end like CA, MASS, Maryland.

Same question for 2002's--I remember the "keep America rolling" campaign slogan--obviously no one paid MSRP and again I don't know what MSRP would be.

    Thanks:)

you can go to cars.com and look under "research".
it will list MSRP for the base model, and all standard & optional equipment,
but doesn't show costy of the options.
You can probably search around and find copies of actual stickers.

    1995 Pontiac Firebird :
    2dr Coupe Base $15,104
    160-hp, 3.4-liter V-6 Standard
    200-hp, 3.8-liter V-6 Optional
    5-speed manual w/OD Standard
    4-speed automatic w/OD Optional

    2002 Pontiac Firebird :
    2dr Coupe Base $20,050
    200-hp, 3.8-liter V-6 Standard
    205-hp, 3.8-liter V-6 Optional
    5-speed manual w/OD Standard
    4-speed automatic w/OD Optional

I paid $17,800 in Dec. of 95 for my 96' M5 Camaro, only power option was drivers seat, open 3.23 rear end and fog lights. I still have it, it had 18 miles on it when I bought it, now I think it has like 167,???.

        This is my fully loaded V6 from 2002 W/ the Y87 package. : )
It had 4 miles on it from the factory.

I just looked up what my '96 Z28 cost with all the options it has on it...was almost the same as Polish's '02 Firebird, weird.

Thanks--everyone, that's very interesting! As mentioned, the Base MSRP doesn't help w/ option costs and I didn't know how the options would be clustered together in the different years. This is great!!

Falcon, can I ask how much you actually paid? I am curious what the discounts were like particularly in the Jan-Feb 2002 time frame when I bought my 1995 used.

I'm trying to figure out accurately how much I would have spent had I bought my car new in early 2002 instead of buying it used (a 1995). This will in turn help me figure out the total cost new vs used for the mileage & time I acrued.

            Thanks a bunch!

the reason Polish '02 Firebird's price is so jacked up is because he had alot of premium options stuck on his car

What do you think, everyone--what's your experience? Did the price actually paid for a 3.8L V6 car w/auto go up between 1995 and 2002 or stay roughly the same because some of the optional equipment became standard but the standard MSRP rose?

I know in 1995 the 3.8L V6 was rare and I thought it would have been an option. My car has it and was built in June 1995 so was almost a 1996.

I have an invoice from Pontiac Historical Services. The base MSRP was 15,104. Options added were power windows, door locks, drivers seat, AC, cruise control, and carpet floor mats. The car was built in September of 1995.

                  The 3.8 liter V6 was a 350.00 option. The matching 4-speed auto was a 775.00 option.

The total price was 18,335 in 1995. I paid about 12,000 in 1998.

That's cool. I still have my sticker price with options too for both my birds. Yeah, I bought both of them brand new too with only 14-17 miles on it.

Kelly's Blue Book is your best guide for buying any cars. But you know I think this is the best time to buy a car. Interest rate is low and a lot of cars are selling way below the Blue Book.
