having the car in storage with no insurance will actually hurt you in the long run... that what I did when I was restoring my 97, after 3 months they called and wanted to know why i didnt have insurance on my car anymore. told them it doesnt have a motor in it and its in a garage.
needless to say not having insurance on my car would of raised my rate if I didnt get it back on. so regardless of it being drivable or not, i went ahead and put insurance on it. it was about $30 more a month to add it. so i did that for about 7 months till I got the 00, then I transferred the 00 and dumped the 97. my insurance rate went down, so i opt to put full coverage on... saved me in the end.

I really though I was paying to much until I saw Conman's. I now happy right where I'm at. That's crap about it going up when the car doesn't even see the road. They did the same thing to a buddy of mine. He drives a Saturn to work but when he switched to a job that was literally 10mins away from his house he opted to just walk to work so he could cancel his insurance and save money. Of course when he needed his car back they charged him like an extra $50 a month all because he canceled it and then reinstated it.

Most companies are fine with it. For me, I just have to get it put back on insurance before I send in my registration.

my insurance never asked for the color of either of my cars
My record isn't horrid but not great. But only claim in my life ever was a crack in a windshield. Probably a $100 claim.
But I had my Camaro(full coverage), and my Mustang(least coverage I coudl get). I paid $1300 per 6 months ~$215 a month.
Now here is the fun... Camaro died, I drop coverage to basic, since car was in driveway. went down like $200 for 6 months.
After everything, I sell both Mustang and Camaro and get my 2007 G6 new car... I new pretty much whatever I got was going to be cheaper insurance(was looking at trucks and non-sportycars) but didn't pay too much attention.
My insurance for 6 months... dun dun dun........ $650.... Full coverage for me and my wife.... $850 per 6 months. $108 per month..... That saved me $107
now you throw in I use ~1 tank less a month $30?
$107 on insurance.
Now throw in the ~$50 a month I was spending to maintain an older car, in reality probably more.
What is that $180-200 a month?
VS. my new car, that is 7 years newer, had 85k less miles, full warranty, then the 4 door factor.... that I pay $260 a month for.
A. The term "full coverage" does not mean anything.
B. Without indicating policy limits and deductibles, it is like comparing the price of a Sentra to an Escalade - without identifying them.
C. City/State and rural v. urban have huge impact on premiums.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
2008 Saturn Sky Red Line - Midnight Blue Pewter Mafia - 2000 Firebird - SOLD CENTRAL FLORIDA KNIGHTS!!!!!!! FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES!!!!!!!
i pay $127.66 a month for full coverage on my 02 v6 t/a. and i have one speeding ticket. im with USAA
v6 t/a...no such thing. its a firebird.
