As you know Calif. has the highest tax in the country. Now with this new budget deal it's going to be even worse:
1. Double the car registration fee
2. Increase in sales tax
3. Increase in Income tax
4. Gas tax went up to so we'd be paying .14-.19 cent more per gallon.
5. So on.
I did the math on this and it looks like my wife and I would be paying $1200 more a year. Now compare to my parents who would be paying $2400 more a year because of their large income.
So far 1.6 million people have moved out of the state. I forgot how many small businesses have closed down, and large corporation have moved out to other states, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. If you drive around in my neighborhood, there's hardly anymore small businesses other than restaurants.
My wife and I can't move because the best doctors in the world for her are here in Calif. It really SUCKS for us. Along with car registration fee, smog fee has gone up. Plus they are now going to make it tougher for cars to pass.

Here's the news:
Legislative Democrats have introduced a tax increase package. Tax increases include a sales tax, income tax, and oil severance tax. In addition, they also advocate increasing the current state excise tax and sales tax on gasoline, and replace it with a new 39 cent gas fee, which would effectually add 13 cents to the price of fuel.[48]
Specific tax increase ideas that have been advanced, in the Democrat proposal and elsewhere, include:
Increase the gas tax by 19 cents a gallon.[6]
Increase the state's sales tax by three-quarters of a percent. Total in new taxes: $4.9 billion through the 2009-10 fiscal year.[49]
Require all state residents to pay an additional 2.5 percent on their income tax bills. If you owed the state $1,000, you would now owe $25 more. Total in new taxes: $1.75 billion through the 2009-10 fiscal year. [49]
Impose an oil severance tax of 9.9% on all oil extracted from the ground in the state. Total in new taxes: $845 million through the 2009-10 fiscal year. [49]
Eliminate the current gas sales and excise taxes and replace with a higher gas "fee" of 13.5 cents per gallon more than users at the pump currently pay.[49]
Consider eliminating the tax break provided by the state's enterprise zone program which, some researchers believe, has been ineffective at the program's goal of improving employment rates
Feb. 19 Gov. Arnold signed it into law.
