I was driving to work and my rear drivers side wheel with the axle came off.
here are some pics.
So its time for another trip to the junk yard to see if I can find an axle. Its just one thing after another with this car. Well hopefully after I fix this there wont be anything after a long while.
Wow, that sux! Did you recently service the rear or it's axles? I'm thinking either the c-clip sheared off, or it wasn't properly placed. The center pin may have worked it's way loose too...who knows.
One thing is for sure though, I'd definitely pull the cover off to find out what happened before I junked it.
this has ALWAYS been a huge fear of mine.. always.. it scared the fvck out of me that all that holds the axel in.. is this little thin C lol
same here, my rear end has been making some noises, and its freakin me out a bit
i didnt really care until my friend told me a story about how she was in her dads truck and people started blowing their horn at him, and he saw the wheel sticking out in the side mirror
Thought I would give everyone an update. I ended up changing the whole rear end. I went to the junkyard with my dad and pulled one off of a 95 Camaro. The reason the axle shaft came out was because of a broken gear in the differential. Here are some pics.
and here are some pics of the end with out the rear.
I just finished and it came out perfect. It really wasnt to difficult in swapping everything just time consuming.
