i was thinking of buying a beater car, something that if i crash in the mountains i can just leave it there and i wouldnt crap my pants. dont want to spend more than 1k, but i prefer it to be around $500. 1st gen integras are out of the pic since my friend already has one. i was thinking of a mki mr2. are there any other suggestions?

      Re: beater car

The best beater car I ever owned was a 1992 Dodge Colt...I think they're called Mitsubishi Mirages/Colts in the US. Very reliable and great on gas. You just have to be careful with the gas tanks rusting.

The great thing about these cars is that the Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0 litre turbocharged engine bolts right in and offers 200hp stock in car that weighs almost nothing.

^ I also owned a 97 Escort for a couple of years...for all the crap I put that car through it held up very well and was extremely reliable...just not much excitement.

                Re: beater car

up date. so i checked out a few cars, they run like crap. tried out a hatch back civic. a rx7 that was used in 24hrlemons, a couple of inegras, and a DAAAEEEWWOOOO (which was actually the best one of the bunch). i think i might just my black mkii mr2 turbo and make it my beater. my mechanic has this 93 white mr2 turbo (unfurtunately ttop) in almost perfect condition, with 93k on it.

5700.....ill pass. That cars 16 years old with 97k miles. Unless it already happened you'll probably be changing the rear main seal soon.
