  • Something I noticed in other forums

I notice in other forums that people posting articles about cops and what they did wrong. It is always something negative and they always start off saying bad things about Police Officers actions. No one ever posts how the Cop was first on seen to a druged out mother who dropped her 2 year old in the swimming pool and then 2 hours later calls the police because she can't find him , and we find the baby in the pool and we already know hes dead but still give CPR until Fire arrives anyway according to procedure. Or coming up on a redlight runner who hits a van with a mother and 3 kids and their just about all dead with a 4 year old that had her head almost hanging off her body, while the redlight runner is on the curb with minor injuries. Or pulling over a car with expired tags and having a guy take a shot at you right in the face, who had a warrant out for his arrest and didn't want to go back to prison.

I could go on with all the F'thed up things Police see every day and what scum they deal with and dangers of just about every situation they deal with but it would be a good size book. I agree and have been with high speed Police Officers that do treat people unfair , but for the 99% that do not make headlines people should not judge all offficers on how 1% of them act in bad situations that make headlines. Because the people posting negative probably have done drugs or crime that they couldn't do a job as a Police Officer or finish the academy anyway or mouths off to a Officer and gets treated the same way. Also wouldn't have the courage to walk up to a dark tinted vehicle at 3 am in the morning for a speeding violation. I know after about 10 years, most Police Officers are burnt out mentally like a couple of my friends. Just seen and delt with too much bad stuff they can be set off easy and make your day not good if you give them attitude or lye to them. But they are easy going if you tell the truth and don't give them sh!t for doing their job.

If you think about it, if people started to get discouraged to become a police officers and there wasn't enough to cover the streets anymore(which most cities don't have enough anyways) it would come down to martial law and the military would be on the streets and you think they would know how to deal with everyday people and even the mentally insane, there would be alot of people shot for not obeying orders and beat up. AZ just cut about 500 Police jobs this past year, although they needed about 500 Police jobs. One small city refused to hire a police force said the County and State Police should protect their small city, well their response time would be about 30 mins to an hour since there is not anyone stationed close to their city. So I would hate to live there. I'm through ranting just pissed me off seeing people post every week about what this officer done and this one done, its never anything positive which 99% of Police Officers do everyday.

Unfortunately, being a police officer is one of those jobs that is under the microscope 24/7 by the public.
The second you step out of the line, people are on your ***.

I respect what you (if you are/were an officer) and what other officers have to go through. It must be horrifying.

There are some that must be reprimanded for their actions (A local police officer was found to be sitting outside an apartment building for numerous hours through the day for 3 months. Why it took that long to find out, I'm not sure. But he wasn't patrolling)

But most have more courage than everyone else.

My step-father is a cop. I've gone on a "ride-along" with him and I have to say, cops put up with more sh*t than anyone I've seen.

Just last Friday and Saturday we had to honor 4 Oakland police officer that was killed by a parolee last week. One of the 4 took a bullet to the head and was pronounced brain dead.

It was sad too see their families say goodbye to them.

I found it very appalling to see a lot of a certain community protest against the police dept. for gunning down this parolee. They said he was the victim of all this.

I tell you, society is becoming crap!!

I have a lot of respect for police officers. Unfortunately I hate pigs. This is one of those cases where you have to make the distinction between the two. I find in general that it is the small town cops who are simply on power trips and spend most of their time harassing people. When I got in trouble a few years ago, the cops were not even hiding the fact that they were giving me a hard time because I go to the local college. They make comments about money (the college costs more than the average annual household salary in the area).

So yeah, I have respect for the guys who put their lives on the line to uphold the law, but I ****ing hate pigs.

I wouldn't even say its small town cops, even the major city Police officers here, have there power trips but thats still like a 1% of of the force. Then you have the Sgts. listening on the radios and some hang around pulled up next to you and a car flys by over the speed limit and tells you make sure he gets a ticket. But in the Academy they tell you make up your mind before you walk up to the vehicle if your going to write them up if it is a minor violaton and everything checks out on the vehicle, that way when you go up to the person you already know if your going to let him off for the violation he commited if everything was fine with the driver. I have had guys first time offenders who were borderline on FST's and breathalizer who I had them picked up by someone, and I left there keys up front at the station, to be picked up the next day or so. I wouldn't think they would complain. But if caught again they would be going to jail, I think that scared most. I never lived in a small town so I don't know how they would be but by the sounds of it , doesn't sound too good if they are out for ya.LOL
