Your right, they were thinking, Hey, were gonna screw this guy right outa his pants... Charge him for 4 valve stems, that'll make his head spin and well make about 3 bucks profit! woo-hoo.

actually i only got 2 tires changed, and i just looked at my car and they did NOT replace my valve stems, so they charged me for work they didnt even do
but i guess i still have no right to be angry, right?
if it was more than 7 bucks i might understand but complaining when it's just so little money really makes you look like a d!ck.
they shouldnt have done it in the first place, but now i just saw that they are the same exact valve stems that were on the car before
so since i was charged for new ones, i will have then take my tires back off and have them replace them, which should be at no cost to me since they "forgot" to put them on, not my fault

Man, you make absolutly no sense.
1. your pist that they installed valve stems without your permission and it cost you $7
2. you find out they didnt install new valve stems when they charged you for them, so instead of now going back, to get that $7 back that you were so upset over, you decide your going to have the valve stems that you were charged for installed.

:twak:
1. i looked at the bill and saw they replaced them, and yes it made me mad because i never told them to
2. thats exactly right, they charged me for them and didnt put them on, so i paid for a service that wasnt even done, since i already paid for it, then instead of going back to get my $7 i will just have them install them on the car.. i shouldnt have to pay anything for them to do it since it is their screw up, not mine, they already charged me for the service.
When they do it to me on multiple items multiple times, I believe I stand justified in fighting for MY money no matter the value! And like said, that amount adds up. And even if you dont think its worth it, there IS the principle of it. Thank you Im done...
If you lived closer, id give you $7 just so you'd shut up.
Paypal him. Or if you don't know how to paypal, mail him a check. For some people, $7.00 is a lot of money, after taxes that can represent two hours of work. Since it seems that $7.00 is a drop in the bucket for you, pay him. I'd say its the least you could do for not lubing up before bending him over.
how can you tell they didn't put in new valve stems? Did you not drive your car home on a dirty road where the stems would get dirty and appear old? Did you trailer it back in an enclosed trailer so you would know the valve stems would look new yet?
50 is pretty normal for a tire swap. At $25 the shop is not making any money paying someone to do it for you, they are definitely losing money if they are breaking the tire down and cleaning the rim, resealing the tires and balancing them. A job like that can take 30-45 minutes.
At my shop it is $3 to dismount, $3 mount, $8 balance per tire. So a 4tire changeover is $56. And we usually will replace the valve stems to prevent any future issues where the customer has to return and waste more time because they now have a leaking valve stem and have to pay for it to be replaced and balanced again. Looking out for the customer really. Shops are not making any money on a stupid valve stem, lol.
Also we charge for a computer scan and diagnostics of a SES here as well. We charge a 1/2 hour of labor or $37.50 as we scan the computer and then spend time diagnosing the issue. Those scanners are not cheap, usually a couple grand and just running free scans for people isn't going to pay for that machine. Sure go to autozone, get a free scan, but that doesn't tell you what is wrong with your car, just gives you a code. You still need to take it somewhere to get diagnosed to find the problem.
If shops did everything for free or no charge then they would go under. Margins are not big enough to be doing that kind of stuff.
i only changed 2 tires, not 4, so my price of $25 is about spot on for what you just said..
how do i know the valve stems wernt replaced? because im not blind
for one, i have chrome valve stems on my car, i have not washed my car for like 3 weeks now, my wheels/tires are dirty as hell, and yet the "brand new" chrome valve stem is all dirty and has pits in it.. i doubt they would give me two very obviously used valve stems.
next thing, is i live .5 miles away from the place according to mapquest/google earth.. i highly doubt in my 2 minute travel i got 3 weeks worth of dirt on my brand new valve stems
there is also dirt on the threads where the valve cap screws on.. i find it hard to believe that driving less than a mile can introduce this much dirt to a car
its kinda funny how my front and back valve stems pretty much match up.. i guess they just gave me some valve stems made to look used so it wouldnt make my car have a shiny spot...
anyways, the problem has been taken care of. the place told me they didnt even need to look at the car.. hmm i wonder why, maybe because they charge EVERYBODY for new valve stems and never put them on

it sounds like you dont charge for new valve stems going by your pricing.
when i got my new tires put on i was given 4 free valve stems
monro just made $7.90 off of me from valve stems.. that sounds pretty good considering they ripped me off, and didnt do the work
have you even contacted the store? maybe it was a mistake??
