How to tell if my 2001 Camaro is an RS?

Hey guys you might think im dumb for asking... but how can i tell if my camaro is an RS body or not...there's no indication on the body of the car but are there secondary places to look for identification? everytime somebody talks to me about my car they always ask me if it's an RS and i never know what to say...please help!!!

it's not. there was no "rs" option in 2001.

Its not an RS. The RS was discontinued in 1997 and replaced by the sport apperance package. If you have a rpo code of Y3F than it is a factory sport appearance packaged car. An easy way to tell is if you have ground effects. However, i belive SLP made a few RS cars wich included the ground effects and an SLP grille with RS badging.

I'd double check with your insurance company and municipal town hall where you pay property taxes to see if they are overbilling you for that so called "RS" option.

Some insurance companies will label your vehicle as an RS versus a Base Coupe type. It could possibly save you a few dollars, worth checking into it. ;)

I don't think it would matter to a insurance co. if it was a RS or reg. Coupe since there the same car except for the appearance. If they did I would change insurance Co. Mine was a stock coupe and then I added the RK sport ground effects and 3.42's. Now it has a SS hood and spoiler. None of the insurance Co. ask me if it is a RS or not just if it is a v8 or v6 then ask for the vin #. I had to take it once to an agent so he could look at it and just put it down as a 2DR coupe 3.8 V6. After June my insurance payments will be $35 month 100/300 full coverage 500 ded. with a limited driving on it. In 6 months I have put 2000 miles on it, so I don't drive much.

A true RS for 2001 would have the Y3B code, vinyl stripes, RS badges, special grill and no ground effects. You would also get a package from SLP documenting the car number and all the additional options. This would make your car one of less than 400 for 2001.

yep... the chevy camaro RS was only in 1996 and 1997.

after that SLP put out an "RS" package for the v6 that had stripes, a grill, dual exhaust, and RS fender badging.

but there were stock G/fx that people commonly call RS for a 98+ i think
