Yeah, I know. I really thought he was going to arrest me and call a tow truck. I think the only reason why he didn't is because I showed him the bill from my insurance company and it said my policy was valid til 6/22/09 and I showed my confirmation number from where I had just made a payment from a few days before. He was a Plano cop, Im not a fan of Plano, Richardson, or Wylie cops they all suck.

Bigtymer do you know where I can get someone to hook me up on inspection? I can't pass until I replace my exhause, tires, and tint. I can't do all that before this Friday.

Re: I just got 4 tickets!!

I see no mention of you hiring a lawyer to defend yourself in court.

I went 88MPH into a poorly lit tunnel with a few cars all cruising on the right side and I sped on by only to exit the tunnel with a black Ford Police Interceptor equipped Crown Victoria on my tail.

After viewing my $259 ticket I called my lawyer and it was dismissed in court four months later. He mentioned I had a perfect record since 1990 and knew a particular judge he had to meet to talk it over with versus meeting a female judge with no mercy on such speeding cases. He knew exactly what to do and surprised me with his expertise.

Do yourself a favor. Hire a lawyer at least near your courthouse, they will delay the case in person for you. You will remain innocent even after the lawyer wipes off them nitpicky charges off your record for a one time fair hefty price. It sure beats paying extra insurance costs in the long run becuase your insurance company will find you are a statistical " fiesty driver ".

        Good Luck !

in FL, woudl could have been an exhibition of speed and considered streetracing, which is a bigger crime then rape or a DUI, legally.

Either way you are stupid... I ahve gotten out of a ****load of tickets, I think one thing that helped me with that was.... the fact i was polite curtious and had my tags, license, insurance, nice neat and in order whenever a cop pulled me over.

Expired tags, no insurance? were you on your way to the meth lab in the trailor park in your Mustang, to make some extra cash for your future baby you don't know the father of?

I thought about hiring a lawyer but wasn't sure how that would work considering I did DO everything I got a ticket for. I got a letter in the mail from a lawyer who does that kind of work so maybe I will call.

DAS BOOT whats your deal? The insurance is definately my bad , but the inspection is taking me awhile considering the entire exhaust system is illegal and needs to be replaced. I haven't had the car long so not sure how the previous owners got away with it. I also gotta redo the tint. NOt fun or cheap. And yeah, I know all 6 of my baby daddies!! A$$

Depending if your lawyer is doing the case by himself, I would assume up to $500 unless he has a team of experienced lawyers under him then expect to pay a little higher including consultation fees. I made the the initial call, researched his fees ( subpoena costs ) and that pretty much sold me the deal to avoid going to court.

A decent lawyer will mention his win rate if you ask him/her. The most successful lawyers to defend you will know former Motor Vehicle Hearing Officers to review your case. Also the rates you are paying will include unlimited correspondence by office, phone or email.

If you don't care and think you're gonna win in court by yourself, think about jacked up higher insurances rates, points off your license and attending nighttime driving classes with morons who swear they ain't the bad guy on the highways.

Hope is not a strategy. Call today to begin to save your license.

My deal is you can't keep up with the simple **** involved with owning an F-body. (Keeping it insured, tagged, registered, inspection completed) Raises rates for everyone. So when drivers like me, who never filed a claim, or had a claim filed against him in 11 years of driving, still pays outragous rates.

Thats one of the reasons why I don't have mine is do to insurance costs.

I'll never dog someone for screwing around in a car, I am probalby up there with that, but the stupid BS, that for some reason among F-body people they always fail to take care of their stuff. Like registration/insurance/tag or whatever.

Sorry its "hard" but honestly its not, I've done it myself, and guess what I bet its even harder now that you have to pay for 4 tickets, or a lawyer, and extra insurance.

dont call the letter you received in the mail.... thats actually illegal for them to send you that... but they get away with it cuz no one complains.....

any lawyer who spends his time mass mailing people is going to be ****ty.... a good lawyer doesnt have to advertise, he gets referrals.....

as for the inspection... i used to have a guy... but that was a loooonnngg time ago... i need my camaro inspected tooo so if you find someone, let me know :-)

Yeah, I guess you have a point about a lawyer that sends out bulk mail. lol Today I went to a muffler shop that did some work on my car last week and told them my situation. I'm looking at $250 just to throw on some cheap exhaust good enough to pass inspection and last til I get the system I want. (That's if my cats are still good and don't need to be replaced) Then I went to the oil change place I went to a few months ago cuz I remembered there was a guy bragging about how he passes everyone on inspection. I should have done it then even though it wasn't due. lol Cuz today he wasn't there. I ended up talking to some other guy and he said there was just no way he could pass me. He said the only thing he would let me get away with was the tint, but the exhaust and tires needed to be replaced.

So that's when I called up my Dad and he made a phone call and took care of everything. Apparently, the guy who replaced my clutch 2 months ago has the hookup so I'll be out in Garland tomorrow getting my inspection.

I went to court yesterday and it went way better than I thought.

Unsafe start ticket was $152, I paid in full and did a 90 day probation so it won't go on my record.
Burnout ticket was $157, I paid that in full too and did a 90 day probation.
Inspection ticket was a $20 dismissal fee cause I got it inspected on Wednesday.
Insurance is $270 but I might be able to get that dismissed too.

i went on thursday, didnt even bring up the no headlight citation guessing he dismissed it. As for the no insurance it was just a 210 dollar fine. All in all things went great.

So you guys don't have point systems in Texas?

I never cared about paying fines, that was the easy part, worst part was points.

I don't if its the same or if I remember it wrong, but in FL...

12 points in 12 months, your licensed gets suspended, same with 16 pts in 16 months.

Speeding was usually 4 pts, moving violations were 3 pts, and non-moving violations were like 2.

Unsafe start would be 3 pts.
                                Burnout woudl be 3 pts.
Insurance would have been 2 pts.
No inspection here, and its a fix it ticket so obviously fix it.

Would have been 8 pts, which probalby on an f-body at least for me raised my insurance rates ~$110 a month. On top of the fines.

So would cost you like $900-1000 total in fines. And if you get another speeding ticket within a 12 month period your license woudl get suspendd for a year. Which some insurance companies wouldn't even insure you then, so imagine the rates then.
