hey everyone,
for as long as i can remember, i've enjoyed going fast(no, not like Ricky Bobby.) i'm sure i'm not the only one here on the forum that feels that way. the problem is that where i live, there is no place you can go to test the endurance of your car(or your skills as a driver.) even though i live less than 3 hours from Talladega Superspeedway, i can't find a place to LEGALLY take my car to the extreme limits i feel it should be able to handle. i, like a few others on here, do not like street racing, and i certainly do not condone it. therefore, i refuse to give in to little honda civics and race on the highways. i recently found out that the only place that was left to go has been dismantled and destroyed, so i give a belated farewell the the Birmingham International Raceway. i've thought about joining the SCCA, but can't find a way to register or even a person to talk to about it. at least then i could discuss the possibility of road course racing at the Barber Motorsports Complex. granted, i am a NASCAR fan, and that's the kind of racing i like, but there is no place to even take a street car that's prepped by it's owner to just run the hell out of it(even for a nominal fee.) all that's left is dirt tracks. and just about every one of those are to small to even think about getting any good speed out of. i know i can't be the only person that feels this way................
