Just wanted to pass it on to ya. I think it was this past weekend so there should be a episode on there website Horsepower T.V.
thats very interesting, there are basically 3 types of small blocks, small journal (or 327 main), large journal (or 350 main), and a 400 main block

out of those blocks, i have only really heard of cracking from the 400 block, since they use simesed cylinder walls, and they had a ton of core shift, and with the 2 bolt main being the strongest, it couldnt handle increased rpm's

i love horsepower tv, but sometimes they say stuff that is really wrong.. for instance they used eagle or scat h beam rods in their "LSgun" build, but they called them I beams

they always dance around the subject of being careful putting the cam in so you dont knick the bearings, and yet they bash the pistons in the engine with nothing covering the rod bolts up.. and the best of all, they will build 600hp engines using cast parts and do a dyno running the rpms up to 6500.. thats really getting in the danger zone, they do good work, but i would never trust an engine built by them

I'll start making boost just above 2000 RPMS about 6 PSI then hit max 12 PSI at 3000RPMS all the way to 5900 RPMS. Could be more or less, but it should be pretty good for a 3.8 engine.
Question. How much did that turbo cost?

I just remember them saying something about it and they showed how to beef it up. So when you said 8000 rpms I just wanted to pass the info on , so you didn't crack a block, but if you already know about which ones do then, good luck to ya on the build. post pics

I paid cash from a wholeseller who I was refered from by the retailer who supplies him with the turbos and whatever parts, retail would of been alitttle over $1600 with the 3" V band and polished housing. I paid $1300 cash for the turbo with free gasket kit set, then bought everything else the other Tial 38mm wastegate and Tial 50mm BOV were $400, no tax since I paid cash. Got stainless steel lines for the oil feed & return and coolant lines fitting for around $250. My 3"oval piping & 2.5" to 3" Y oval pipe was about $450. Downpipe with O2 bungs and flex tube on it was $180 , misc $200 ,Aeroforce Scan gauge with EGT box and probe kit $400, trunk mount varibale tuning methanol kit on sale $380, then intercooler with ALM piping $400 and misc $120.Misc stuff polished heat sheild for turbo, manual boost controller, polished blow down tube kit, T3/T4 adapter with wastegate hole, fitting , lines , bolts. Comes to about $3900 total but some stuff I could of went without so I could of been under $3500 easy. I'm going to wait until Sept. when it starts to cool here and just take my time putting in my A/C line and the 3 core radiator and take the rest of my front bumper off and mount my intercooler, cut more off the front for more air flow. Take out my stock res. and mount my 1 QT. ALM. resisvor. So it will keep me busy until Sept. I'm putting in some 1LE springs this weekend to raise the rear up somemore and might do the A/C line. I also sold alot of my nitrous stuff so far, when I'm done it should be around $1000 once all sold so it can knock off my total to $2900,then a friend owed me $2200 , and then I got another $1000 for help fixing my wifes brothers 89' mustang 5.0 LX up to sell and sold it 2 weeks after I got it so I saved just about all the money and started buying pieces here and there my last stuff should be here next week. So I really didn't spend anything out of my own pocket and still have some left over for the welding the pipes(don't know how much yet but they will be Tig welded) and doing my A/C flush and refill($132) for that. Having it done somewhere else the dealership guy pissed me off.

No problem, I thought it was pretty cool esp. with the results he has gotten so far stock.

Either way, I love my v6 engines. I even have a license plate on the way "3800 II".

                      P.S. It's not slow.
Don't forget the Buick GNX V6 which is faster than the Ferrari Testarossa V12 in the 1/4mile I may add stock to stock.

I wish he would give a list of what all he got and paid.

I want to do this but I cant throw down 500 on a tune just to get the damn car to use it :(
