Re: kinda cool
From my collection.
The first is extremely rare, ive been offered alot of $ for it.
The second my grandfather bought new, and handed it down to my dad and him to me.
It hadnt ran in 30 years, and I started tinkering with it had it going in an hour.*Matt

Re: kinda cool
Alot of them have too much compression to start them by just spinning the flywheel free handed. You can hold the exhaust valve open with your finger by pushing on the spring on the outside of the head, and spin the flywheel with the other hand pretty quick, and release the valve and itll start.
If your good you can start it without the valve, especially if its been running and is still warm. I can do it, but prefer not to usually.
Theres alot more to them then the videos show.
Theres speed control, timing advance, air fuel ratio etc.*Matt

Watered down gas even.
The witte 2hp, (the one thats not on a cart) runs on gasoline and kerosene. (2 fuel tanks)
I havent figured it out 100% yet, but you start it on gasoline, then after it warms up, you turn a selector, and it will burn kerosene instead, which is more efficient ( i think )
It's a very rare engine, and ive been offered quite a bit of $ for it. Most 2hp witte engines were built for carts, and this one was built to mount to a work bench or something in the shop to run saws, or something similar, and has a flat base for mounting.*Matt
