For anyone that can read, can see that my truck is a 2005 GMC Sierra.
6.6L Duramax diesel, and has a few handful's of mods.
Well.. I bought the truck used, it blue booked for $32,000 when I got it, and lets just say I got it significantly cheaper, which allowed me to mod it.
It had 30k miles on it, and the truck has a 3 yr 36,000 warranty. And the drivetrain, which is a Duramax diesel with a 6 spd allison tranny behind it, and a bulletproof 14 bolt rear, has 100k mile warranty.
The truck now has about 43,000 miles on it, and after spending close to 4k on a turbo alone, I started noticing a loss of power and took it to the GM dealer to get checked out.
They had it for a few hours, printed out all sorts of sheets of computer readings, injector balance rates, fuel pressure etc. etc.
Alot of stuff I didnt know what it was... and they guy was amazed at how much PSI I was boosting with that turbo and loved how the truck sounded, he was cruising around the parking lot in and out of the throttle.
So, they said the truck checked out normal, which I knew wasnt right because I drive the truck close to every day and know what its capable of, and towing on the interstate and power in general was way off.
So I took it to the diesel performance shop in town that did some of the work, and they inspected it for a few hours, and said the turbo is on its way out, its overboosting and I can keep driving it til the turbo craps out or send it in for warranty from the manufacturer. Aurora - ATS...
In general that would leave me without my truck for quite a while... my s10 the fuel pump died, the 86 has charging issues, the silverado my friend is in the stages of buying off me right now and my wrangler has no interior in it right now cause its getting Line- X'd.
So my GM dealer installed my stock turbo back onto the truck and replaced a couple injectors, fixed some HVAC problems (which is no longer under warranty) and gave me the truck back, plus reinstalling the new turbo when it comes in, all under warranty.
It's awesome to "know people"....
On the negative side, it sucks being back down to 30PSI boost with the stock turbo. It's still pretty quick but its a pooch compared to before.
