My dadn I have been looking around at the dealerships around our area. So far we've looked at the Envoy, Nissan Pathfinder, Hyundai Sante Fe, Honda Pilot, Ford Escape, Hummer H3, and even the Porche Cayenne. He has no preference and he's been asking me as to which one I think is the best. He wants the one that is reliable and not too bad on the gas.
I will say, I'm quite biased against import vehicles, and even if an import was much more reliable and cheaper, I would buy the domestic car, so I can't really give an opinion based on experience with any of the cars. However, I can say that I am not biased when it comes to looks, and will admit when an import looks better than a domestic car. That in mind, the only one that isn't hideous is the GMC.
AMAZING car, I absolutely love it. It has 80 or 90k miles on it already, the thing gets driven. Whenever I come home from school my mom needs to drive it up to help me bring all my stuff back. Meaning that for every time I make the 500 mile drive, the Pilot does it twice. It never misses a beat. Gets driven 90-95mph the whole way (I plead the 5th).
I built a deck at our house and used the Pilot to haul all the materials. Wood, cement post-holders, etc. I loaded it up and it worked like a champ. You can fit anything in there.
The 3rd row of seats is fairly cramped (unless they changed it from the 04-05ish models) but will fit small people fine.
A ford ranger hit her head on, ranger was totaled and the Pilot had a cracked grill and headlight. Its built solid!
The only thing I don't like about the new ones is the grille. That isn't a big deal though!
2002 SOM Camaro- Sold
2006 S60- Sold
2000 Cherokee- The desert whip
well, the only ones that dont scream "soccer mom" are the GM Envoy, the porsche cayenne, and the Yota. I'd personally get the yota. They're kinda fugly, but they're cool in their own way. I'd like to say buy the GMC Envoy, to help support GM, but they're goin down. Sorry GM. My vote is for the Yota. It's 4x4, and its capable.
