I rather like the Murano. The only thing about it is that the transmission in it is a fairly new concept; its a cone-like-thing that has a drive gear slide up and down it for the 'high - low" gears. I've driven a couple in my valet days, fantastic ride and comfort. Shifts smooth and easy. The Toyota is a classic, but is rough from time to time. I PERSONALLY think it is a nostalgic car, not a dd. GMC is GMC and will always be GMC, but I'd avoid Kia / Hyndai IMO.

Oh go with like an o1-02 chevy blazer ZR2. My friend has one and we used to always go everywhere in that thing. I have a 00 blazer 4x4, its lifted, but its not a ZR2 and I havent had any major problems with it. Its cheap too. Just an option. But yeah, avoid KIA/HYUNDAI. If he decides to go with the sportSUV, dont get Nissan, Get the INFINITI FX35, its sleeker, and nicer looking IMO. see the link

ohhh yeah, i forgot about the infiniti lineup...their FX50 is a beast machine----hauls your groceries around and hits 60 in 5 seconds :burn:

It would depend on what your Dad wants to do with it as to what to buy if he just wants something good in winter and decent on fuel and likes the room of a SUV then it would have to be the Ford TaurusX hands down my wife has the AWD Freestyle AKA Taurus X and it has a Volvo Drive train and rides very nice. And it wont kill the pocket book it will all so pull 3000 pounds with a towing package.

I ran against an FX45 (?) at Atco a while back. We both ran 15.2's... Both stock.
This was way back in 05 or so.

Well guys it looks like my dad is going for the 2008 Toyota 4 Runner.

It looks exactly like this. Same color and everything:




The interior is nice and everything and it's really smooth. Nice power too.

He's negotiating the price and will probably know by this weekend if it's a go.

We did look at most of the SUV's you guys suggested and tried some of them out, but I guess the 4 Runner is more satifying to him. I was more leaning towards Envoy.

My neighbor is on her second 4 Runner in the past 5 years. She had an early 200X year model and loved it so much she got a new one and sold the older one to the neighbor across the street. Haven't heard any complaints from her about either of them, only good things. Says it still gets semi-decent gas mileage when towing her boat, too.

Well atleast somewhere around between 15-24 mpg.

My wife's Santa Fe gets 24-26 mpg in the HWY. The AWD version of this SUV I heard reall suck gas. I was lucky not to get that.
