so i was backing out of my girlfriends driveway in the bug, and these people were pulling into the driveway across the street. i looked back and was like, what the hell kind of crazy lights do they have? At any rate, i kept backing up and for some reason the lights got brighter, but they people had already driven down their drive way, i was like "wth?" so i opened my door to see a fire-ee inferno raging from my engine bay!!! thats right, the old bug is HOTT!

What i believe happened was it back fired through the carb. The air filter could have been wet from my cold start 3 pump, and lit up...anyways, needs a new filter, some plug wires, dizzy cap and button, coil, some fuel line and a good carb cleaning...this sucks.

i went over to her house this morn and put a new dizzy cap, plug wires and fuel line and drove it home...wasnt that bad, just depressing.

For the love of god, stop calling it a dizzy. I want to puke everytime I hear that. Its a distributor. Mechanics call it a distributor, most everyone I know calls it a distributor, only you and bubba call it a dizzy.

BTW, I hear those older bugs run forever.

and yes, i am hard on a bug, and it just keeps on truckin. the damn thing caught fire, i spent about 10 minutes worth of replacing melted stuff with spare stuff i just had laying around, and drove it about 40 minutes home.

thats one reason all the anger has broke out, newbs have been feeling like they gotta defend themselves agains older members. like then i couldnt tell if you were joking or not, i havent seen your posts till just the other day, granted i havent been here for long. for all i know you could be another smokepanther...if blizzard said something like that, i would know it was in good fun, but when you said it, i took it the wrong way...and its not like i say dizzy, im just to lazy to spell it out, sorry.
