Exactly the reason why I learn to do everything myself. This is why I need to get one of those tire mounting/dismounting machines. I don't feel the same about alignments though, how can you really go wrong with a computer telling you exactly what to do... Anyways..

So, I installed the K member... Needed an alignment badly. Well I had a slow leak in my front left tire too.. My nitto extreme drag btw. Anyways, they found it was apparently a pinhole in the bead and that's just not fixable. So I was bummed. Got the alignment done. Great.
Got home and saw that the panel just in front of my door was pushed out like a freaking inch! I was like.. wtf did I do when I installed this K member!? I looked under the car and found that the little tab that says "DO NOT JACK HERE" was jacked. I was angry to say the least. Being it was Sunday, by the time I got home and realized wtf that kid did TireMan had already closed.
So I didn't get to ***** at em. And I'll just let it go since I took some vicegrips to the tab underneath the car and I was able to align the panel back to where it's suppose to go. I was very relieved but for **** sakes, I have subframe connectors on the damn car and he decides to jack it on that little ****ing tab?! Idiot. :twak:

    Re: Fun at TireMan

Happened a few times with my car in the shop... I guess they didn't know or mistook it for a jack point. I know they're usually pressed for time when working on cars, but it honestly does not take more than a few seconds to look under the car to see that there is absolutely nothing supporting that fender tab.

Ever since, if I bring in my car for work, I always tell them not to jack it up there and show them, just in case they didn't know.
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?

The way that this kid was working in the first place.. Well it didn't look like he was pressed for time. What bothers me is that it actually says "Do Not Jack Here" Or something to that effect. I apparently had an illiterate working on my car today.

However, arctic rider, you bring up a good point, I should have known better.

My brother in law has his own tire balancer , said he got it for like $400 from a shop that closed down. Pretty cool it's a modern one with computer controls and what not. For allingments they sell canisters that go under the front tires and you can dial them in. I watch my car closely when I take it somewhere, even for a free tire rotation I will be out there watching them. I tell them make sure you don't mess up the chrome or tighten the lugs too tight.

Who would you trust to work on your car and care for it as if it was their own? I'm sure it's probably not many people if any. I don't mean to dog ya cause I understand your frustration. But in the end, we all do work to get paid.

                <--- Guilty.

Unfortunately a lot of the places around here need that kind of behavior sometimes. Too many times have I had something that doesn't need to be fixed replaced, found careless scratches or marks on the car after getting it back, and even found a screw driver under the hood. Finders, keepers. And I'm done with some of those places.

                  Re: Fun at TireMan

my rule of thumb: always befriend a man (or woman) who handles your car, your food, or your money.

i've stayed with the same two shops for most of my car endeavors, and have built more than just a customer basis with them, so when i need something done to the 'maro, i can call or show up unannounced, drive my car onto the lift myself, and roll up my sleeves and get to work with them (my mechanic and i put in my headers in less than 2 hours working together).

but i will agree with blizzard, the very few times i have to go to an unfamiliar shop, i will be right there making sure no mistakes are made, and if need be, i will certainly get my hands dirty too...call it annoying if you want, but that's my baby in the car bay they're touching.

i have had to beat that tab back in before, on both sides even.
it says on the thing not to jack there, most people are just dumb.

I would take the wrench and tell him to come back after I'm done.LOL I've had too many young kids mess up my car. The older guys I don't have to worry about esp. the ones who have worked on it before. Mainly Discount Tire over TQ'ing the lug nuts and not replacing center caps and leaving dirt/oil all over the rims. I have replace 5 broken lugnuts from discount and I got like $20 back , after b!tching at them. The guy that did my front QA-1 springs didn't even have a fender cover on each side and was getting dirt and grease all over my new paint job. So I told him to put cover on my fenders, I just had it painted 2 months ago. I could tell I pissed him off but oh well its my car, hes not the one putting money into it. I hate mechanics that short cut things, good way to mess up a car.
