ur a 63b, right? when did u go through ranger school? did u have another mos before?

I had a combat MOS previously but went to another AIT for 63B to learn mechanics. I went to ranger school near the end of 05. It's a 61 day course for enlisted, I don't know what it is for officers though. It took a while to actually get on the list. Other schools I have attended are Airborne (which you need for ranger school), and air assault.
To the original poster,
One more thing I would DEFINATELY recomend is trying to "get promoted" before you ship off. Otherwise you will be an E-1, the lowest rank there is. Ask your recruiter, though it may be too late, to see what he would require. I know you can get it by getting someone else to join, or memorizing certain things like the soldiers creed, or doing a pt test and passing etc. You would at least want to ship out as an E-2, or if you have college education at all, you can get up to E-4... let me know how it goes.

Also, I'd recommend that when you go through AIT, at the end they will offer you ASI's (additional skill identifier) and airborne school. Take both of them. They will help you get promoted when you're ready to become an NCO.
And congratulations on joining by the way, welcome to 1% of the US population. thank you for serving your country. :)

just wondering, i dint think u could do ranger school without being in a combative mos!
Not true at all, a lot of MOS's can be Rangers... ANd no, you do not NEED a previous combat MOS to become a ranger, BUT expect combat when you do become a ranger, at least if you're in a ranger batallion... A lot of people (mostly officers) who get to go to ranger school just go to regular units so the "ranger" tab is all for show to them.
