so my buddy bought one a while ago, we tried to use it, but the "special bonding agent" (come on, its hot glue) kept sticking to the car, and not the piece. plus after about 30 minutes, we didnt get a single dent/dig out of his car...and it was covered in em.

That's what I thought. The glue will probably do more damage than anticipated. Real shops usually use pressurize suction to remove dings and not glue.
Yeahhh I talked to the local "dent doctor" while he was fixing up a dent in my dad's car. Even if those things manage to pull up a dent, the area it pulled up will be higher than the rest of the panel. They are no good. To really do paintless dent removal you have to press it up from underneath the panel. Then they use certain bits and tap around the area to level it out.. constantly going back and forth from rubbing the dent up to tapping the top of the panel down.
I have one. And yeah, it works. It certainly doesn't do any damage to the cars finish. I had the same problem as flamer but I just scuffed the thing up with some 80 grit and it stuck to the puller rather than the car from then on.
I'll be honest, it's not a miracle product, and it won't fix everything, but it works good enough to make it worth the money it cost IMO. Doesn't work well for pin head dents though, mainly for stuff that can be "popped" out.
my dad used the "thermal shock" method succesfully (like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kYrCGYniA8) - he used a heat gun from harbor freight and an upturned air duster can.
