As the title says I went to pickup my glass of water and my left hand didn't hold on to it like I thought it was and water went all over it, the screen is showing water spots thats about all, now other damage that I know of , do I just turn it off or leave it on with the fan on it like I'm doing now. I didn't want to turn it off in case it doesn't boot up again. Anyone know or have any experience in what I have done to it? Thanks For any help.
Also it seems to have gotten alittle better I think.

i would leave it off...take the battery out and leave it unplugged...leave it for atleast a day or two...should be enough for anything to dry up inside that may of gotten wet...

LETZRIDE is right. Dont turn it on! Remove all power and let it sit for a day... I would also set it different directions, open with keyboard down, then on side etc... That would get rid of any standing deposits held in by any plastic bezel edges...
When you decide to clean the screen; dont spray on the screen, spray on the cloth and then wipe the screen.
When there's power to it, the water can cause a short and that's permanent damage... make sure to not just power off, but take the battery off also... like LETZRIDE said

yeah thats what i did with my phone when i went swimming with it, just immediately took the battery out.
then i laid it out in the sun for a few hours.
i would leave it off...take the battery out and leave it unplugged...leave it for atleast a day or two...should be enough for anything to dry up inside that may of gotten wet...
once at work, one of the users dropped her coffee on her laptop. we were unable to save her data but we basically took as many components out as possible such as battery, CD drive, keyboard, and we even took the lcd panel apart. this situation is worse because it was hot coffee, but since its just water just let it dry completely and see if it will be ok.
if it wont turn on maybe you just need to replace certain parts instead of the whole laptop.
i still have that HP desktop for sale remember? lol
be cautious about leaving it in front of a fan, though, bc you actually want the computer warmer than the air so you don't have condensation inside... if it's cool, the water won't evaporate from inside as well...

spray it with wd-40 to dsplace all the water, then let it dry, after its good and dry saturate it in Trans-X, your good to go.

I let it sit in Trans X over night and woke up and it wasn't a laptop anymore its now a desk top and is 1 milllion times quicker, like a super computer and talks to me like HAL from 2010, I knew I shouldn't of soaked it after midnight.LOL
