  • It is official: Vanbibber's car is a clunker

So, www.cars.gov (ie the "Cash for Clunkers" program website) confirms that Vanbibber's 1995 TA is a clunker...but my 2000 Firebird is not.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

LOL... most of my cars are clunkers too.

Last night, midnight, was the last time they were accepting clunkers. The gov. ran out of cash. It was very popular.

But the funny thing is most people are buying Honda and Toyota econo. cars. So in other words were putting money into foreign cars and stimulating their economy.

I am surprised they didn't allow it for only new cars from the companies that received bailout money (and the company we own 60% of).

I wonder what they're actually doing with the cars bc they have to be in running condition... I mean I understand that they should be running or the whole idea of replacing a gas guzzler with a fuel efficient model, to work, but I'd be interested to follow some of the cars that are traded in to see where EXACTLY they end up...

oh yea, congress is looking into "finding" another $2 billion to extend the program
Rebuilding the engine... Building a custom front end... T-top conversion... Custom rear hatch..

They kill them. Run an acid through the engine to perma-kill it. Salvage any "junk" parts. Then Smash whats left.

Then why won't they take something like a 1988 Blazer with some Transmission issues because it would have to be towed in... I don't know, just seems like a waste to me to destroy cars in working condition... meanwhile flamingchicken and I are sitting here with cars that don't run that we can't do anything with... lol

                          Right there with ya..

I also dont believe the MPG at 18 or less is fair... I believe it should be if you can increase MPG by a set percentage compared to the new vehicle you buy. Also that you had to have owned the vehicle for a year is BS..
