Ok, I didn't know where to post this, so I'll put it in the lounge. If it's in the wrong place by all means move it. Ok, most of you know I am in Iraq right now until next April. Well, my wife is at home (she kn ows NOTHING about cars) and she is driving our 99 s10 Blazer. It is starting to have some real issues starting... I had replaced the battery before I deployed, it has a 550CCA battery in it from Autozone... So it likes to turn over, and she has to turn it over sometimes like 20 times to get it to start. I suspected the alternator, told her to jump it off my camaro, and it starts right up. A guy at a shop told her the alternator and battery both are good. I'm sittin here scratchin my head thinking.... it IS getting spark because it starts instantly when jumped... its not a fuel problem either. She said the guy at the shop told her that the starter is only getting like half the voltage it needs... so myt question is does it seem like it could be the starter just needing replaced? it's a 4.3 v6 blazer by the way... what else could it be? it has fresh plugs and wires as well. Let me know what you think, I dont want a shop to rip my wife off... I usually fix this crap myself... but cant now due to circumstances lol.

Re: In dire need of an intelligent mechanics opinion...
Well, I had originally thought 2 days ago that the 550CCA battery was the culpirit, but some dude at a shop told her it was good. That's not saying that he could have been wrong. The battery is pretty new so it's clean and corrosion-free...I am just wondering if it may be the starter and solenoid. Having to crank the engine 20+ times to get it to start everytime could have burnt up the starter, but I have already had her pay different mechanics to "fix" things that were the problem. Like I changed plugs and wires before I deployed, and she had a mechanic look at it and told her "Yup, its just the plugs and wires". SHe didnt know I had changed them so she had him change them, then that didnt fix it so he said "it must be a coil" he changed that and it didnt fix it. I just assume that it isnt a fuel problem because it wouldn't get any more fuel pressure by having it jumped off of my camaro. I don't frikken know... no one here lives in the fort lewis, seattle/tacoma area I presume... I just dont want her to get reamed at some mechanics shop again, cuz I dont know any.#1:1999 pewter metallic y87 rs A4 camaro.check out the pics on the link below<br />#2:Bright red 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Re: In dire need of an intelligent mechanics opinion...
I'll show my friend who is a mechanic this post tonight. Only because I hate you Military guys. Lawlz, Shout out from Baghdad brother, my pal is at Speicher with the 95th from Hawaii...Enigneers think they lead the way, if your not the Queen of battle, then you don't lead the way. Who leads the way if we all lead the way? I'll let the long tabs decide. BOLO for a response within the next 24. Oh, I'm with the PRT up here living the dream?? I hate working in an office, I'm used to doing CAP's Civil Affairs Ariborne....errr...Chairborne...hooooah (whiney woman hooah)
From a person who had somewhat of this problem before, I'd say it's the starter...just sayin..

No it's the 95th Engineer Sapper out of Hawaii Raw Dog IT!!! They have the telephone pole...advanced stripper bar patch...or the we work weekend patch...looks like 3 w's on the same line lol. I've got the electric butter knife. Wanna Be SF Sword leading the way with 2 bolts through it with the Airborne over it. Trust me its the 95th...the 25th is Infantry...21B's pretend to be infantry...cept they bring the boom boom.
Side note..I had my camaro do this...wouldnt start, the batter would die, and only my brothers Mustang could jump it not my wifes Cavalier. It was the Alt...I was like WTF over?
