    Re: Chevy Volt at 230mpg?

I don't know about volt, but it costs .90 cents to fully charge the Nissan Leaf. So you drive 100 Miles on .90 cents.

As for charging stations, ALL malls, supermarkets, shopping centers etc will get their charging stations very soon because of the booming electric cars.

Q:Are you working with power companies to develop fast charging stations using higher voltage ?

A:We are working with governments and companies to foster a large network of fast-charging facilities.
Did anyone care to click on any of the links I have provided. answers are all in there.

I heard about that Leaf too that it would be almost a 100 more mpg than Volt.

But the problem with that car is that they still can't get it over 40mph.

The Volt had a lot of bug but it's been iron out now. Now they are trying to prefect it.

But yeah you're right. It's too expensive.

If you bought a new Cobalt at 30 mpg, for $15000 versus a Volt for $40000; After 10 years of commuting, you would still have to drive the Volt for an additional 10 years to make the gas savings worthwhile...

Not to mention, the battery will lose it's power storing capacity gradually. Electric cars usually require a new battery back after 5-6 years. That's another 5 grand (someone correct me if i'm wrong) I believe.

Not neccesarily in the area of 5-6 years, they are designed to last longer than that. if the battery is not used as it should be just like a cell phone battery, it will lose its memory and ability to hold a charge like it should when its new.

As for price of a new battery, they are very expensive. A ford escape hybrid's battery is $8,050.

In my opinion, its not worth buying a hybrid, they are expensive to buy, expensive to fix, and in the case that you have to replace a battery you are Fuccked, all for better fuel economy. Might as well just buy a gas guzzler in the beginning and brake even.

It comes with an onboard generator.

                I found these numbers:

                Horsepower (hp / kW): 160 / 120

                Torque (lb-ft / Nm): 236 / 320

                0 to 60 mph: 8 to 8.5 seconds

Top speed (mph) 120 (limited duration)

its more of a fashion accessory than anything

anyone ever hear how the energy used to build 1 prius is like starting a land rover discovery in your driveway and letting it idle for a year....
