Just got back from Washington DC

My family spent 10 days in DC - a very enjoyable time - we did not have to rush through things and we got to see many different sights.

President Obama seemed to be avoiding me - I did not meet him. However, I did meet Newt Gingrich. I thought I saw Joe Biden on a Metro Rail train, but I was not positive.

We rode the Auto Train up there and back. We had two "roomettes" both directions - really great.

God to see you had a good time. Did you see the basic stuff like the capitol, monument, museums, etc.?

That's good. I'm glad you and your family liked it. I wouldn't mine going back there myself, esp. in the summer or spring. My wife and I went there on the winter because the hotels were cheaper...big mistake. There was a snow storm and strong winds. But we had a good time too.

We used the subway a lot. I met the Senator of Calif. when we toured the capitol and I forgot the other politician's name?

wow 10 days is a long time. guess since i've gone hundreds of times...i would pull my hair out after a day or 2

Air & Space Museum (the one at Dulles - we previously had visited the one in DC)
National Archives
Lincoln Memorial
Jefferson Memorial
WWII, Korea and Vietnam Memorials
US Navy Memorial
Air Force Memorial (although all we really did was just "drive by" it)
A couple of Smithsonian Museums
Bureau of Engraving & Printing (where the money is printed)
National Cathedral
Supreme Court
Union Station
Day time drive by's of the Mall / monument area
Night time walking around the Mall and Ellipse (the big oval park in front of the White House)
International Spy Museum
Prince William National Park
Marines Museum
Marines Memorial (Iwo Jima statue)
...and a bunch of other things.
We did not get to see the White House.
