It really sucked going up I ended up missing about 1 year of high school out of the 4 years it was like 180 days first 2 years I missed 100 days then about 40 the last 2 years. Still ended up with a B average since I took accellerated courses all 4 years which accounted for 1 grade up that you got for that class , so if I got a B in it it recorded as a A on my transcripts. Even took 3 years of spanish C's in all of them never could get the speach right but could read and understand it very well . I got my 2 year degree of college but I still would get bad headaches so I ended up dropping out. Did some accounting and computers then switch to criminal justice and with my Corrections(15) and Police academy credits(35) added to the Comm. college its like 98 some credits at a communitiy college.LOL

It seems as if lately i've been getting them almost everyday, but I generally get them a few times a month.

You may want to have that checked out, A guy I worked with told me that he had migraines every day for 15 years, then he broke his back, and when he went to chiropractor during his back injury, they re-adjusted his back and straightened it, he said since that day which was something like 13 years ago, he's never had a single migraine.

It could also be caused by something like your eyes, being strained or something.

I know theres NO way I could deal with that crap everyday.

I've been getting Migraines since a pretty sever concussion in 4th grade. Getting them about weekly lately and I'm 30 years old missed 31 days of school my senior year with them.

I have had them put me down throwing up for 2-3 days at a time before no over the counter medicine can touch them, I used to be on Imitrex which provided minimal help, but lately have been on treximet which helps a LOT with them I have only had it not help 2 times in the past few months. I am sensitive to light, sound, and smell as well with throwing up. Drs have never found the root of mine either.....

My wife tells me to just go on with my day she just doesn't get it I would if I could......

SSM your post worries me because I have at times during physicals had irregular heart beats and murmurs, but my cat scan on my head is normal. My aunt also used to get severe migraines and had an anuerism so I wonder if it's heart/clot related in my case as well :(

I have had few migraines worst lasted 3-4 days.. I was stuck in bed whole time could barely move, just tried to sleep.

I do get periodic headaches a few times a month, from what I have read are cluster headaches. I can not take any lights sound etc.. I normaly when coming on though, so take 2-3 excedrin (excedrin is tylenol, asperin and caffeine).. if stomach can take it.. or about 4-6 advil tylenol and can keep it at bay.

My mom and grandmother suffered same thing.. one doc told me.. this is not hereditary, it is stress etc that is it. Vicodin work really well if take when i first notice.,. but no doc would ever prescribe those so do not ask.

I agree with other person who said, make note of what you ate.. smelled etc.. incense.. strong smells can bring on a severe headache for me.

I had Imitrex nazzel and the injections which didn't help any. The nazzel had the nastiest after taste in the throat that didn't go away.LOL Through the years they tried over 20 some drugs, taking Inderall everyday wasn't too bad seemed to dim the headaches some in my 20's also lowers blood pressure. I went through the police academy and had the ultimate physical chest X-ray, blood tests, urine , running 15 minutes on a thread mill ,10 mins. which were running up hill for my stress test and EKG's and all came back normal. Dr said I was in perfect condition, only way to detect the PFO is to have a camara go into the heart and check it out. I never have irregular heart beats or anything, I've had about 5 EKG's since the stoke and 2 out of the 5 came back irreagular. Only way my miraines would pass, if it was really bad was a trip to the E.R and a shot of demeral, I don't know how many times I had went to the E.R. from going up, but I would say 20 times at least. I still had meds like Somas and Vicoden for home use but if they didn't work I would have to go to the E.R, I also had Compozine to stop the vomiting but most the time after a good vomit I would feel better like the stress of throwing up unclogged the vessels in my head and I would not have the flashing lights , numbness , sick to the stomach and not such a throbing headache. There was sometimes I felt like putting my head through the wall. My mom and grandma had migraines and both had heart problems so I would def. have it check out, it's not too bad having the camara go down the throat , they give you stuff to gargle and drink to numb the throat and then give you something to relax you but it knocked me out last time. Afterwards your voice is messed up for about 3 weeks for me anyways. When I was in the E.R having the stroke I remember a priest came by and started reading to me when I was lying there because they thought I wasn't going to make it and my wife was crying they were trying to get the clot undone in my head but I still lost about 25% of my right side of my brain. Nuerologist said if I was 10 years older I would be a vegatable and 20 years older be dead do to the amount of brain loss. I'm not too bad but after a year or so is when all the side affects started hitting me and I seem to be getting worse according to the Nerologist in my last month visit. My memory , function , speech and strength so I don't know. I have some more tests and should have the heart closure end of Sept. But def. get it checked out 1 in 4 people have it according to the Mayo Clinic.

I've been told so many things about why I get migraines... I've broken my nose about 7 times and I have a deviated septum that's so bad I can't breathe through my left nostril at all... doctor says that could cause migraines... Doc also says that with all my broken noses, I could have sinus damage causing migraines... I was also told last time I had my ears cleaned that I may need to have my adenoids removed, and that they may be causing my headaches... I also broke the growth plate in my left leg when I was in 7th grade, back when I was about 5'7", now I'm 6'3" and my left leg is shorter than my right, which gives me a crooked pelvis, which gives me a crooked spine, which causes minor but bearable discomfort in my back and neck, but the doc says that could cause the migraines...

Basically depending on the person, there's a huge list of things that could cause migraines, but if you get them consistently, like ssms said, it may definitely be worth mentioning to a doctor. The migraines could be the problem themselves, but they could also be a symptom of a different issue...

I get them a couple times a month also..... I feel your pain... The worst I ever had was one that lasted for over a week, I literally thought I was going to commit suicide. Went to the doctors a bunch of times, had a brain scan, and been prescribed 4 different medicines/pills, plus trying practically every drugstore pill known to man, the only thing that ever really helped was Tylenol 4 but they don't like prescribing them because they are highly addictive. So basically screwed and condemned to pain. I have discovered that drinking insane amounts of caffeine helps though.

They gave me caffine pills called cafacourt something like that , reason behind it is the caffine makes your blood vessels move faster so it provides more blood to the brain where the vessels are constricted. I had taken over 40 medications by the end of highschool and 4-5 MRI's and CAT scans. Even tried Dialaten for siezures. They would give be Soma's, Vicoden and compozine(keeps you from vomiting) so I wouldn't have to go to the hospital to get a Demeral Shot and I.V. lines for dehidration from vomiting. After 10+ trips to the hosptial the PCP Dr. just gave me the drugs I wanted to stop the pain if need be. Now because of my back I take highly addictive drugs 120 mg. Oxycotin, muslce relaxtants, nerve blockers and Xanax which permantly affect the neverous system.

Yea, I drink soda, Tea, and take Excedrin Tension Headache (which the main ingredient is caffeine.)
