  • Hi Everyone! New member here!

Let me introduce myself, I am Mark, (aka Mark42) and I am so excited about finding this message board!!!

This past weekend I bought a 1998 Firebird coupe w/ 27800 miles. Red with grey cloth interior, the car looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. I could not pass it up.

Back in 1995, I ordered a new '96 v6 Camaro with handling package, T tops, LSD, 5 speed, bright red with tan leather . Loved that car, and ran it to about 130K miles before selling. Now I find myself looking for an economy car, but after looking at used Honda and Toyota cars, I realized that they are not what I wanted to spend 2 hours a day commuting in. So knowing how much fun the old Camaro was, I started searching for good values in used Camaro and Firebirds. That's how I found the 98 Firebird.

I found the Firebird about 60 miles from my house in PA, and the dealer will be flatbedding it to me TOMORROW!!! Woo Hoo!

Haven't had time to take my own pics so these are from the dealers ad:

I can't wait for delivery tomorrow. My wife and kids are just as excited as I am. Although I have to admit my wife would have preferred a convertible Camaro I was looking at too.

I spent hours looking at all the Camaro/Firebird forums out on the net, and this one seems to be the best. Not only is it geared toward the V6 platform, but the wealth of information far exceeds most other forums.

    Looking forward to participating here.

    Regards,

    Mark

Wow, that looks like such a nice car. You will be glad you chose the more stylish Firebird ;). I would love to have a Firebird with super low miles like that one. Would it be possible to get a price? I'm wondering what a dealer would charge for a car like that. (If not its ok, lol)

                      Nice find/buy:)

                      Welcome to the board.

The headlights aren't a big worry, you can turn the gear over for a temporary fix and Ebay has brass gears to replace the nylon ones.

Re: Hi Everyone! New member here!

Wow! Thanks for the warm welcome.

Its nice to have an original car, not "modified" by someone who thinks that drilling holes all over the place for trendy add on crap is somehow improving the car.

Kristen, I am from NJ, about 15 minutes from the Deleware Water Gap recreation area. The dealer is in PA. They are able to supply NJ plates and title for me. I just have to do inspection myself.

Flamingchicken, here is a pic of the odometer. Must be dyslectic, I wrote 27800 when it s 28700. Or is that just wishful thinking? LOL!

Car should be here today. Will take some pics and post.

So far, the only planned mods I will really need are to add the 3:42 gears and a LSD. I know thats a chuck of change, but I need it with the NJ snow, especially in north NJ where it can be hilly in places. Again, great info on this forums about the gears, carrier series, etc.

BTW, my other hobby is boats. If you want to check out a cool mod to a 16 cuddy cabin, see this site where I documented the complete fabrication of tha Hard Top from fiberglass. http://shareaproject.com/pages/projectTut,p,386,00.html

                        Thanks!
