  • My last post, and some advice.

I have gotten out of the car hobby somewhat in the last few years, and have been mostly inactive here. This will most likely be my last post on this forum, although I might occasionally pop in to browse around. I don't really have time for forums anymore anyway. It brings a small pain to my heart simply to see an f-body, for reasons explained in my link.

Particularly to some of the younger members here, I suggest you read the post I have linked below. It is long, but hey, I don't post that often anymore.

I take nothing for my cars. I've had them for almost 20 years now. I've really learned a lot from them. Making a V6 fast is rewarding and challenging to me.

I wouldn't trade that for anything.

So what you're telling me is that I shouldn't have ever made my v6 go fast? It's faster than a lot of stock v8 cars now but I suppose I shouldn't have done it. Hm.

          1. My v6 will never be a z28, damn straight. I had a v6 and wanted to mod it so I bought another v6 when I could have bought an 8.

          2. Way to let that tick go. Congratulations for ignoring a problem. No wonder.

          3. Have fun with body kits, neons, 5ft spoilers, vinyls, and waxing.

          4. Duh, duh and duh. Sorry to hear of your bad experience but, it was your bad experience due to what sounds like ignorance and negligence.

I suppose everyone should just play it safe from now on out guys. Drain the nitrous tanks, put the turbos away. Powerdynes? No way. This guy says it's a bad idea.

            It is really quite simple...

Mod your car if you want to, don't mod your car if you don't want to.....

After all, it is your choice...

Agreed. You live in OKC as well. Shame, shame. Might as well go buy a truck if you dont like modding anything.

I just read that post the OP linked, really a waste, if you know how to do stuff yourself it makes it alot easier to modify a car/ truck/ mower and its something you can apppreciate when your done. Its like saying why modify a 4 cyl. or even a V8 just keep them stock. When I'm done with my wee V6 , I'll put it up against a LT1 or LS1 with bolt-ons anyday and also a modded LS1 to a extent, as long as I can turn up the boost controller and download another tune.LOL I'll be able to push mine up to 450 WRHP and 500 WRHP before I would have to change exhaust wheel. This is with a 2800LB car also.

Re: My last post, and some advice.

I understand what hes trying to say...its inapplicable (as stated in the post) for people who mod there car themselves and know how...

He's trying to say, for those people who don't know how to mod there own car, think twice about doing it...I can somewhat relate to what he is saying, because somedays when I am modding and run into problems that last a LONG time to fix, I think to myself... why the F*ck am I doing this? the cars on jack stands, and all I want to do is enjoy my car on the road...I'm emotionally attached to my car, so when its not running I kinda get down...But then I get it back up and running better then before and everything is good again...in his case his car never got back up and running good again, and he felt helpless in trying to fix it because the shops he "trusted" let him down...or atleast he feels that way...

Do I think that people should not mod there cars? No...if modding makes you happy, then do it...it is a great way to learn how to work on cars...start small and work your way up. I do however think that if you want to mod your car, you should be ready for the consequences of parts breaking, and problems with installs along the line...nothing ever works out nice and peachy like people may assume.

Hell, my car was down for 3 weeks after I busted the rear end on the race track...longest its ever been down, and man-o-man was it hard to deal with...nothing like being able to pick up and go anytime come crashing to a hault on you...felt like I was a prisoner... every time we thought we were going somewhere with a fix it came to a dead end...wrong parts ordered, or not the right part to do the job...it was always something

When I first bought my car all I knew was it was a v6 camaro with 200hp and 225ft-lbs of torque...I knew that it was a decently quick car for what it was...I knew nothing about mods...hell, I needed help installing my first CAI on the car...

But, I started off small, read alot on this site...and I mean ALOT...and now I'm doing everything on the car...cam swap, springs, suspension, rear end now... I've touched over 90% of the car...My friends call me to help them with there cars when it breaks down...if I didnt start modding the car, I would of never learned any of this...infact, if I didn't find this site, I probably wouldn't even know half of what I know...

to the OP... you losing your car later to the cam issue may have little to do with your mods. besides u still got 103k miles out of it, call it a day.

just know the risk before you do anything

You're probably right. If you are completely incompetent when it comes to cars, you probably shouldn't modify them.

And nice choice with the civic. Sounds right down your isle. :twak:
