Re: My last post, and some advice.

*i read this dude's post, & while it did have some nice "feel good bout urself" advice, this dude is NOT a "car guy!" (non-gender term ladies so if a man calls u a car guy say thank u) so i hope he enjoys his plain brown wrapper status quoe car, i say STOCK is a curse word & stock parts (w/a few obvious exceptions) are simply what the manufactures purchased from the CHEAPEST BIDDERS! car guys can't leave anything alone, we have a need to turn wrenches, & yes, outta the gate, u can make some expensive mistakes, but they are simply learning lessons, & ya gotta start somewhere-i have been wrenching & learning for 20yrs now on old cars & just recently new cars & truely enjoy the process, i have formed some great friendships & reaffirmed my belief in the human race in the form of seeing car guys going out of their way to help each other, & i have experianced both the greasy feel of acomplishment & the "i'm gonna drive it off a cliff" frustration! but i wouldn't trade the friendships i have made in the process of being a car guy for anything-so enjoy ur plain brown wrapper dude, cause being a car guy ain't for everybody-God bless

Just because you bit off more than you could chew, doesn't mean all V6ers should "just wax" their cars like you said. Enjoy your Civic

i like modding anything. i am itching to pull the engine out of the 3 and put a cam and lube-a-lobe lifters in it, with 1.4 rockers, but as of right now, its my only transportation. common sense is to do mods that will allow you to 1) still drive the car while modding or 2) have something else to drive...

He's driving a civic now, just as others have said, that explains it all.

Lucky. I never got a girl to look at me when I was sporting a '98 Bird. I still can't get them to look at me when I'm driving an '08 Stang (still a 6).

They were all about BMW's and Audi's where I went to college. I was just a single domestic car in a sea of imports.

Even now, I am now University (for now... I really wish I could find a job related to my degree) after graduating last May. The college chicks seem to talk to me when I'm out and about on my lunch break, but then find out I drive an American car... they leave me hanging cold. Traveling off with the next guy driving the M3. Never once had a chick ask me to give them a ride. Meh.

I haven't a clue. Maybe it just sucks for me living in Jersey.

Then there is the dude that walks by when I'm getting out of my car from either arriving at work or getting back from lunch. "Nice color, man!" "I love the car, dude." "That hood is bad*ss." Some will even approach me and ask if I have any plans of modifying the car to make it faster.

As was previously said.... he is not a "TRUE" car guy.... any true car guy knows that when it comes to modding... it a pay to play situation.... I've been in the situation where I've built a motor..broke everything in..went to the strip just to watch $5k worth of motor hand grenade at half track.... my theory was... Oh well.. back to the drawing board...but wisely..I made sure there was at least a beater to get me back and forth to where ever I needed to get... the only advise is to thoroughly research the modifications and not cut corners.... you half *** something in one spot...something is gonna break.... and to you younger guys that he aimed this post at... just be smart and learn along the way... I did so 20 yrs ago...and I'm still modding today!

I got mine in Dec. 95' with the first 5 speed 3.8 engine had RK SPort ground effects, lowered 1.5"s ,3 peice 5" spoiler and exhaust on it by FEB. 96', so it looked totatly diffferent. Also had my stereo in it PPI amps 2300am, 2400 am and 2- 12" kicker solo barics, extra Opitma batt. in the hatch, so it was pretty loud. Had limo tint, infinity mids and highs. I always had people ask what kind of car it was this was in 96' so not too many F-bodys with kits on them. Of course there were not too many Camaros around that looked like mine at the time, this was when I was working for AZDOC.
                    08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine

damn fellas what are you guys doing?! I've never met a girl worth talking to that didn't love my car---seriously. and most girls that know my car tell their friends about it so there's always a lovely lady wanting a ride.

all they know is it's loud, they love the looks, and want to know what i've done to it and if they can take a spin. very easy.

i think a lot of it is my attitude towards it---my friends know my car and that it's my baby, that i take excellent care of it and work on it myself a lot, and it should be respected.

but never ever has it ever been referred to as a mullet-mobile lol, and i know plenty of those types around my area.

The occasional idiot is someone who sells a camaro, and buys a honda. I could see buying a honda (not really) and keeping the camaro, but not just buying a honda. Makes me cringe at the thought.

I've only met one girl that actually likes my car, and she's an Indian chick. I have yet to meet a white chick, asian chick, spanish chick or any-kind-of-chick that liked my Firebird or Mustang. Even with the meticulous care I put into my vehicles.

The other's I've driven say the car is too loud for them, even with the windows closed and the A/C on. My friends like when I drive because I'm a so-called "safe" driver, but not my car. They hate the way the exhaust sounds (stock) or the rumble of my puny 4.0l (also stock). They all want me to drive their Honda's because they make no sound and they can sleep during those long drives to the middle of PA.

I've been referred to as having a mullet-mobile, when I was driving my 1985 Berlinetta-Camaro. Then I cut my hair, bought a 1998 Firebird, and was called the a**hole of the dorm because my car was so loud. I would work the night shifts. Waking people up when I pulled in after my shift. Sorry guys. Then I graduated, some Nissan Armada ran over my Firebird (some dude blew through a stop sign and over the front), and I bought a Mustang. I'm taking lots of heat for it not being a GT. I can't win.

                            I say Ford's new 3.7l V8 and the proposed 5.0l V8 look very promising.

Some dude at the University who is living on the campus where I work has the new V6 Camaro. It's simply stunning. All us guys look at it. The girls on campus are all "like, you know, it's too big."

ok folks-i have a question-are ya'll building/driving these cars FOR OTHER PEOPLE, or FOR YOURSELF?!?! i know alot of ya'll are like me & don't care what anybody else thinks, but come on you guys, build/drive whatever it is YOU like & screw what anybody else thinks! & as far as something being to loud as mentioned above, you've got to be kidding me?!?! the people giving you crap about it being to loud should take a ride in my other car; a 1971 Monte Carlo with a 450horse 383stroker motor & dual 3"turndowns before the axl! she pisses other people off in traffic cause it aint polliticaly correct & they can't hear their blueteeth in their prius, but to the ears of a true car guy, weather it be a well tuned 4, 6 or 8cylinder, it is a beautiful mechanical symphnoy! ...the mellow rumble of a v6, the whine of a turbocharged 4 banger, the nasty lope of a fat camed v8, all music to the ears of a true car guy/gal! ...either they get it or they don't, & if they don't, then you'll never make them understand! weather it be an suv or a prius...drive what YOU like! as for me...i think i'll keep my two chevys & hang out here with you car guys!

I think it is just that most of the people I know associate these cars with a more... uneducated group. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but these are just people that aren't really impressed by who can change their spark plugs the fastest.

I drive my car because I love it... I am just saying that the girls don't like it really, haha.
