So a few months ago my ibook G4 laptop popped up with a message telling me I needed to restart my computer. I found out this was called a "kernel panic" I had never worked inside a computer so I just set it aside since my roommate has a computer I can use anytime, but I ran across some websites that show how to fix the problem by removing and replacing the RAM, so I did that yesterday and haven't received the kernel panic warning since, but now my computer still isn't acting normally... I've had the mouse freeze up on me twice... I could use the keyboard shortcut to restart and then the mouse would work for awhile but eventually freeze up again. I left my computer on overnight to see if the kernel panic would come back since sometimes it took awhile, and this morning I came out and I couldn't get it to come back from sleep mode. Usually if I tap the space bar it starts right up, but it didn't start no matter what I did...
I don't think it's a software issue bc after the initial kernel panic message I did a clean install of the OS 10.4, and haven't installed anything since... should I do this again after messing with the RAM?
Any insight into my problem or suggestions of things I could try would be appreciated... I don't feel like taking it in bc it's at least $70 just to run a basic diagnostic...
The computer was purchased in 2004... so no warranty left. I start classes back up on Tuesday so it'd be nice to have my computer back...
Sorry for the long post but any and all suggestions would be great, thanks...
