  • tick slave...

Woot! !! First new thread in the lounge this year! Anyway happy new years.
I ordered a tick slave for my ss. I recently put an ls7 clutch in and wasn't feeling the soft stock pedal anymore and I've heard great things about the tick slave. I think im going to order a speed bleeder too... but does anyone have any experience with the tick slave? Its suppose to make the pedal super stiff and correct high rpm shifting.

    Re: tick slave...

I'm interested as well since I own an '02 SS (pic below), 100% stock @ 11,500 miles on the odometer. It's way too much fun on the highways but eventually the clutch gets the abuse first so I'm suscribing.
So doing an initial research, the ingredients would be a Tick slave, LS7 clutch from GM? My other guess would be a quality throwout bearing but which?
LS1TECH has many rave reviews: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/manual...stalled-3.html
    KATECH has a LS7 Clutch Kit Special:http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/manual...its-399-a.html

Only other question I have is what brand clutch for my '96 3.8L Camaro 5 Speed that has less chatter upon take off. What do you guys run for the V6?

      Re: tick slave...

      Alex,
When I changed my clutch to the ls7 a couple months ago I replaced the pilot bearing and the slave cylinder. The slave I replaced it with was a 2001-2002 one because they were upgraded after 2000. That's the furthest I wanted to go with it but im sure they make better ones for different applications. Just looking to get some input on the master cylinder and thinking of using hi temp clutch fluid. Its some blue german stuff but don't remember the name. As for the 3.8, someone else will have to chime in. All I've heard of is like a spec qftermarket clutch for those...

        Re: tick slave...

Ive seen many ppl say after going to LS7 setup, that they didnt need the Tick products anymore. Since Ive got to replace mine anyway, Id rather just spend the money on the clutch kit...

        Thanks for the links Alex

I just used an OEM Exedy clutch kit for my sixxer. Worked great, it was only a stocker though. I believe I got it for 150 or so on eBay.

Yikes, this dude grenades his clutch thats mated to a 7.0L block in the vid.
Guess the list would include a scattershield to keep our leadfoots!

Same LS7 but welded back together, apparently no scattershield upgrade lol.
