  • Audio Question???

I have a 2000 wrangler, and at interstate speeds with the top off, the current speakers sound like they are at the limit before I push them any further.

So I was wondering about just replacing the 2 speakers in the speaker bar.

I've heard the sony explodes can take alot of abuse as well as polk audio speakers, can anyone weigh in on this?

I'll probably be buying as soon as I can get enough input on which one to buy.

I currently have a nice Alpine headunit 40x4 ?? the jeep only has 2 speakers (speaker bar running overhead) I'd like something that gives decent bass response, since there won't be a sub hooked up to the system. But a speaker that can take alot of abuse. -- really loud while on interstate with top off.

my panasonic 6 1/2 inch speakers do a good job being loud and clear over my subs. but kicker is my next purchace. i would reccomend either of the two.

Ever since I saw a sony x-plode 6x9's cone jump from the suspension, I will never purchase one. It literally exploded. Other than that, its mostly just personal preferance, spend some time listening to both, bring a cd you really know, and pick the one that is the loudest while being the most accoustically accurate to you.

No I heard they can take alot of abuse. I know they aren't the "best"

Let me clairify, decent speaker. Mid-priced, that can take alot of abuse, I'm not entering into a stereo contest just something in my jeep, that I can crank on, while driving 75mph down the highway with the top off and still be able to hear decently well.
