I actually really like the 2.73's now. The car has plenty of power for them. Plus, launching is a cinch with these gears. I have a harder time launching my '97 M5 Camaro with 3.23's. Fact remains the curb weight is a little over 2700 pounds for lx foxbody V8's like I've said all along....lol I know it's gonna weigh more with all the fluids and **** in it.

No, curb weight is NOT 2700lbs for LX V8s. Thats the curbweight for a LX 4 cylinder car. LX V8s weigh no more than ~50 less than a GT, similarly equipped.


The LX 5.0 coupe is 3010#

Hatch 3060#
Vert 3231#

Those are low/no-option cars.

GT's, with higher option levels, are

Hatch 3144#
Vert 3365#

Weights of various option packages, add to the base weight for vehicles so equipped

AC 40#
rear defrost 1#

I have an 86 Road and Track and it say that LX weighs about 3250lbs. 225hp and 300 torque.

Ofcourse, your's a Saleen so that's special.

So what's the difference between that and the GT?

Well, I live right between SF and Sacramento. And the curb weight is more like 2700-2800. But, with all the fluids and other crap it prolly comes out to more like 3000-3200. But my car has a fiberglass hood and no back seats or anything else in the back except a battery. [img]smile.gif[/img] Also doesn't have AC or power windows etc. I'm guessing it's pretty light. It had a sub box but I took it out last night as it hasn't been working. Something is up with the wiring.

Also, the lady that sold it to me told me it's a Saleen clone. And it probably is. But, It's hard to tell because the rpo codes on the door jam are missing. It's prolly a clone but oh well. It's so fun to drive around. since I got it Saturday I have been driving around aimlessly just to drive... :D I'm addicted to the car. Too bad it likes to suck the gas...lol

If it doesnt have a dash plaque (http://www.bryanweatherup.com/Assets...te-interio.jpg) then its definately not a saleen.

If it does have one and you are unsure, you can call Saleen and give them the last 6 of your vin number and they will tell you.

Real saleens have no benefit of weight reduction over any other model.


Thor, GT vs LX 5.0 is cosmetic. And, for a couple years, suspension too... Otherwise, they are identicle [img]smile.gif[/img]
