  • My new car

I'm buying a 98 Grand Prix GTP 2 door hopefully by end of next week when my car finally sells, its on ebay and has two days left and 5 watchers so I think someone will snipe for the lowest starting bid. :(

    Anyway, it has for mods:
    3.25" Pulley
    Ported Throttle
9" K&N cone filter with smooth elbow intake piping
    SLP Headers
    off-road downpipe
    borla exhaust
    DHP PCM
    160* stat

plus its lowered 1" with koni suspension I think he said. When I test drove it and used that performance shift option, it was doing around 90mph before it finally shifted into 3rd at 6,000rpm.

It was quick no doubt...how fast should I run with this thing? Mid 14's? It doesn't have the torque-ish feel of an f-body (especially LS1 obviously) so I don't know how to guage it with seat of the pants dyno...haven't owned a FWD car since I was in high school as my first car.

Too bad GTPs are quite possibly the ****tiest sounding cars on the road when they are modified =P I hate to say it. Congratz though.

I wouldn't say so - V6 f-bodies have a much different exhaust setup. GTPs have a STUPID *** u-bend in them for the O2 sensor, their exhaust manifolds/headers are completely different which means so is the Y-Pipe, the dual muffler single exhaust pipe setup changes the sound - plus the tune on the motor. It's terrible!

It has the u-bend removed with the off road down pipe. IMO, it sounds a lot better than my f-body due to the borla catback. It purs like a kitten. One of the girls down the hall that took the 2 hour ride down to Ft. Myers from Tampa to go look at it with me said when we took off down the road she couldn't even hear the exhaust over the whine of the supercharger. When it idles, I could barely hear it outside and inside sounded great compared to mine because it was so quiet.

I won't argue though, I've heard some with flowmasters and SLP loud mouths and they sound like ***.
