  • New owner of a 03 R6

Well my roommates R6 got stolen about a year ago and recovered totaled(he had liability) So its been sitting in our garage ever since. Well I ended up just buying it from him this weekend for
$1600 bucks. I had loaned him $600 for fairings that he had bought and he was just to lazy to put them on so I put them on and wahla decent looking bike for $2200. So now comes the delima of selling it or not. Doesn't have the power of my GSXR obviously but I was thinking about putting it on the track. Any opinions?

Its just a 600 it doesn't have enough power to drag bike. It won't touch my 750. I was thinking of going like circle track.

O the gixxer probably won't go on the track if it does I will never go full out on it. But I may just sell it and pay down the gixxer is what I'm debating on.

Dude, I would kill for a track bike. You got it for cheap, you know the bikes history pretty well, and it's an r6 so you wouldn't feel bad trashing it. Fuel injected? Keep in mind you need a suit and money for many other things.
There is fast, too fast, and way too fast. Way too fast is almost fast enough.

I know the history and its horrible the bike got t-boned by a van. I redid all the plastics on it so it looks fairly good now. It 03 so first year for fuel injection. I took it to the track today and it was pretty fun. I also took my GSXR out on the track and it was way faster on the corners. I scrubbed the **** out of the sides of the tire. There was just chunks of rubber melted on when we stopped it was great fun.

Hahaha sweet. I always love going to bike shops and seeing the bikes with the melted tires. Im jealous. Also you have a gixxer 750 which makes me more jealous. But now that you've ridden on the track I'm sure you can better decide whether or not you're keeping it. Lemme know what you do.

The gixxer tracked alot better than the R6 only problem was in 1st gear it was over powering in the corners so I was running in second so I might change rear sprockets when ever I go to the track to take the RPM's up a little bit.

Yah, you have a tough life with too much power and too many bikes to chose from. In the corners is where ducatis are at home. Those things have power at any rpm so you hardly ever have to down shift and the power delivery is much more smooth. If they didn't cost so damn much you could get one of those for the track.

According to sport rider the Gixxers still own Ducatis in the corners is the bad thing because they have more power with the 4 cylinder as compared to the v twin.

Yah they have more horse but you have to be in the right power band or else rolling on the throttle does nothing. They rev up to like 14.5 rpm and they only get power at 9rpm and up. Where as a ducatis redline at like 7 to 8rpm (I think) and they have more on demand power at any given rpm. I own a Honda f4i which is a more around town version of the 600rr and the f4 will do a faster quarter and has a higher top speed but the rr (race replica) has more on demand power and that is the one that is raced. Ducatis have also been known to be a little heavy side to side in the twisties. Yes, you're right a suzuki will beat a ducati (actually it will beat anything for that matter) and for ultimate preformance I'd take a Suzuki. But if I had the money I'd rather have a ducati because I am so in love with the looks. But that is way out of the question for now.
