  • My 5.0....

    I touched on it briefly in the lounge while back... no pics from myself, but form previous owner...

    but, here it is...









    1992 Mustang GT. Hatch, 5-speed. 75k. Has a little rust(wouldn't be a rustang without)

    Mods...
    -accel wires/cap and rotor
    -MSd Coil, MSD 6al box some sort of big *** tach
    -offroad x-pipe, flows, that dump
    -SN95 4 wheel disc brake conversion, 5-lug conversion
    -Autozone Ricer airfilter
    -aftermarket MAF
    -17 in. wheels off a newer GT, think they are 99+
    -subframes
    -Performance rebuilt 5-speed, possible gears in the rear, I need to check it out.
    -shifter
    -aftermarket performacne clutch


    At first car was a dog, I was looking into it, I finally checked the plugs, I assumed they were new, since the wires, cap and rotor look brand new. but they are old, one was misgapped. I bought a timing light and timed it, and now it runs like a bat out of hell.

    Tiires are trash, but if I stab the throttle in 1st lights them up

    has some other small issues... one exhaust manifold gasket is blown out, and I have another exhaust leak. I am wheeling and dealling for some coated longtubes on the stang boards, and may work my way back doing the exhaust... I might ditch the flows, they drone like crazy.

    But jsut a little at a time.

    I like that body style, idk why. If you dont mind me asking how much did it set ya back?

    '96 Trans Am M6:) Cam, lifters, 1.6rr, lt4 springs, 4 bolt mains, long tubes, TDs, short throw...etc

      doesnt look to bad...how come u went with a stang....after all u were known as the mustangkiller....wheels r differnt with how they painted them but over all doesnt look too bad

        I haven't been able to find a 3rd gen worth a damn, everything was a 305 tbi, and cost $2500, if it was less then that it was such a pos, not even worth touching.

        And that has nothing to do with trying to find a 5-speed. and knowing the 305 is a POS... and the 5-speed being an ever bigger POS


        I picked this up for $2700, I probably paid a little bit too much, but its actually the 4th car I have attemped to buy. I mean cash in hand ready to pick it up but seller backs out. I was looking at 2 2nd gen f-bodies, and 2 other 5.0s

        excluding cars I saw in person that were junk and not worth what they were asking.

        I also felt alot better with the seller, I half no him, he autocrosses in a club I autocrossed in, he has like 6 Mustangs, and trains Ford Technicians, he was straight up about the goods and bads of the car.

        At first getting a little frustrated with it, becasue trying to find simple info was like pulling teeth on the ford boards, and **** one of them doesn't even have a search function, I did some digging found out Autozone, has a pretty decent setup of wiring and parts diagrahms...

        and as usual, got a haynes manual to help out as well. This car is so easy to work on, and SOOOOO CHEAP for stuff...


        but the car is a blast to drive, fun as hell... now I see why people on some of the v8 boards will talk about how they miss therre 5.0 even though they have a faster ls1 now... Its just a small little car that is fun to drive. Takes up about as much space in the garage as my g/f's '00 Cavalier.


        I might wait till I get some safer tires before I hit the track with it, but I plan to be a trackwhore once again... Also might be taking the camaro back out to the track as well(been running stronger then ever, since I gutted the CAT and tuned it) now that I have a car I can use if I have another catastrophic drivetrain failure.

              If i didn't get an f-body i would of gotten a 5.0 :drool:
