Then again, the R1's almost hit 100 in 1st, and you've got an extra 300 cc's, but, yea.

Sorry but not exaggerating at all. Give or take 2mph but about 120 when I have to shift out of first when I am getting on it. My co-worker has a R1 and when he when for a ride on my bike his only comments were "i wish i would of bought this." Those extra CC's come in handy when someone with a 1k really want to see who faster... not like i do that though!

Anyways I have Baxley's Black Chrome Sport chock. The LA chock wasnt for my purpose, but they make awesome products.

^ That says 85. You must be geared, or you swapped a sprocket. But it does say, approx 120 shifting out of second! Hey, you gotta expect some ribbin from a Yamaha guy right? :p

I really really need to pick up one of those chocks. I've been ratcheting my bike down in the back of a pick up by the shock towers and it's a b*tch to keep the straps from rubbing the paint, and I wouldn't say its the most sturdy and safe setup.

Good point. 120 is nuts then, lol. ZO6vette, im not tryin to bust yur balls, im just suprised, and it lead me to looking it up. The info is sparce but I came across a site listing 85 as topped in first. Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I continued searching assuming that site was wrong, (The one I linked) and I found a review on the 'Busa where they stated the same. Then for the hell of it I searched a 'Busa forum and a member stated 85 topped in first. Im just going to take your word for it because I need to stop being such a skeptic, it rubs people the wrong way im sure. :)

I duno what I was exxagerating about, I wasnt saying a 1kCC bike will go 120, i was saying its not uncommon for an ungodly high 1st gear top speed.

CBR600RR 1st Gear redlines about 70-75
My CBR1000RR, hasnt been tested yet... hasnt even been broken in, almost 600 miles.

but still, 120 seems really high.. and im not calling you a liar, im just surprised if it really does.

Yea, what fireball said. And I know theres some tall first gears out there. The R1 hits just over a 100 in first. But like you said, suprised to hear 120. I don't even know what the R6 does. It's been 1.5 weeks of rainy and sh*t weather, but next time we ride, I'm curious to see the results for the 1000RR, GSXR 1000, R1 then my lowly R6. I should complete the package and get a ZX-10 :p. Not that first gear top speed means a damn thing, but im just curious. :)

Edit - Nevermind. Just remembered the Suzuki and Honda both geared themselves to keep up, so the speedo's are even more so innacurate.

It better be another gear than first then, cause you won't be beating squat at 85. :naughty:

On a side note, we went on this huge ride one weekend back with about 40 sport bikes. There was this guy on a 'Busa who had a chick on the back who was very impressive. The girl was literally hanging off the side of the bike like a sidecar racer which had this guy holding ground really well in the twisties and just straight out smoking most of the other people. I can't deny that Suzuki rider any props for taking that tank thru the corners WITH a passenger and still managing to keep reasonable ground with the leaders of the pack!
