  • Blackout (Stealth) P71 Police Interceptor

I'm currently looking for a black CVPI to make into a show-quality car. My plans for it include black steel rims with centercaps refinished to a semi-metallic matte black, limo tinted rear windows, 35% front (Legal in my state), polished black push bar, LED spotlights (If at all possible), fog lights, wig wags and strobes (Show use only), Marauder corner lights, and chrome exhaust tips.

Inside I'd like to install black carpet (most CVPI's come with rubber flooring), black LX Sport dash (Retaining the P71 cluster with 140MPH speedo), front leather bench seat (black), DVD Navi, High-def screens in rear of head rests for the back, PS/3 mounted in the back, Two Eclipse titanium 15" subs powered by two matching 1,600 watt amps which I already have, bluetooth Head unit, CB radio with adjusted Ham radio amplifier (More transmit power, more range), external PA, hornblasters horn (hornblasters.com), black headliner and a mini-safe in the trunk.

Engine mods will be minimal if any at all. 3.55:1 gears are a must though, to let the car get out of it's own way. Intake/exhaust/245/50R16 rubber is as far as I'll take it.

Something about these cars has always caught my attention. Hoping to get one in the next few weeks and put the Camaro on jack stands in the garage and pull the motor for the stroker kit.

Your turning a car that has beat to hell into a show car, I like ex-cop cars but people pay way to much for them it seems

Good luck and it should turn out nice

Sounds good! I've always wanted to buy a retired PI.

I'm looking for a low mileage car preferably used as a municipal car for a town clerk or a detective's car. <40k miles is a must, along with a straight body. I'm not looking for a $3,000 dented up vic you see dressed up with hubcaps as local taxis around here lol. I'm looking to spend about 10 grand and make payments. I figure that with my junkyard hookups to get nice interior parts and I can have a really nice daily driver.

Me too, since the newer body style came out. I always wanted a Caprice, but they are hard to find in good condition, and this guy right here hates opti-spark with a passion! haha. New impala cop cars are wimpy in my opinion, it's like a lightly more powerful Taurus. 3800 motors are nice, plenty in common with my f-body but not a fan of FWD, and it seems the only "real car" remaining is the crown vic. Roomy, big, not quite underpowered for a DD, and the added intimidation factor maken for a sweet ride.

haha damnit! Good for you though, those cars are awesome. well, considering you are about 2,000 miles away from me (Assuming your state is accurate) I don't think your purchase would be jeopardized. Pics! Link! :poke:

I'd rather have a DSG (dark shadow gray) one... but this is a good deal.

Definitely a bigger fan of the honeycomb grille. That top one is sexy. I like the grey too but moreso with the honeycomb grille and the black rear panel

I agree, few things I woudl change on both cars...

I'd do the honeycomb grill and black on the trunk and blackout the reverse lights.

                      But good starting points :)

Definitely. Limo tint on the back windows, legal on the front to avoid tickets as I'm sure the cops will be on my *** about the car as it is. I like the steel rims personally but maybe a gloss black finish on the rims or a powercoated metallic black so they look fresh up close but menacingly cop-like from 20 feet away. Leather bench seat up front with steering-column shifter would be pimp.

Trunk-mounted antenna for the CB radio also  Breaker-one-nine

I have debated on that... I was thinking keeping the pseudo look, or just going full authentic cop look.

Problem is I heard about a guy that did have a full cop car, still had unmarked sirens and lights in the grill. he got hassled a bit....

I was thinking about that too, I was thinking more or less a utilitarian look. Pushbar saves front end from deer damage up where I live, antenna for CB radio, idk about sirens and whatnot. Strobes could be cool for a car show so I could maybe use that as my alaby. And call me a redneck but I think I'll also do a tow hitch to tote my dirt bikes around :)
