Re: are we circling the drain?

So a lot of this site's traffic is generated from people with problems and/or looking to mod. So coming here and looking up info about the car and searching for info is what a lot of people do. But I know personally I come here and sometimes can't find the answer to my question in the archives. I ask and I 9/10 times get a response about what the problem could possibly be or advice about a mod. It's awesome.

Now I think vanbibber has a good point. Possibly not re hauling the whole site, but just updating some stuff to keep those knowledgeable people that know these cars inside and out around. The more knowledgeable people the more traffic we will get. If you gear the site more towards 5th gen you will gain traffic that way. The 5th gen knowledge base will build itself in this sites archives for years to come...or however long you decide to keep this site. Then you can sell the domain for $1 million. lol maybe

I use both halves of the site, but he message board more so.

I don't see a 5th generation Firebird anytime in the foreseeable future (unless you are a geek like me who is looking to buy a 5th gen Camaro V8 and get an aftermarket Trans Am body kit).

When the 4th generations f bodies were new, we had lots of people coming here. I think it would be a terrific addition to add a sub-forum just for 5th generation F bodies and eventually a technical reference section for them - but that's just my $0.02.

I'll gladly volunteer as a moderator in whatever areas the owners want.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

You should have been a moderator a VERY long time ago. A 5th Gen forum would have been perfect for you. We have one now...but I have seen little activity on it.

Re: are we circling the drain?

you guys have to realize that the 5th gen camaro is fairly new, and there is very few (if any) mods for the new v6 camaros.

it will be some time when people come in asking questions about them.

and then when they do, most of us wont know the answer, because we dont have a 5th gen and cant really give good advise

one thing that really makes people mad is when they post a new thread and get 15 replies that say do a search.. yeah i know it is annoying to have 10 people ask the same question in a week, but a lot of time when doing searches, stuff comes up that does not pertain to them, or it is too hard to find the info they need because a thread is so cluttered with stuff.

i think this is a great site, but it is really the small things that get people to come back instead of finding another place to ask a question.

um, maybe you havent checked but the 5th gen aftermarket is off the charts already. the 3.6 has been out long enough that companies already understand it and know what they can do with it. fairly new, yes, but given the amount of modified ones ive seen stretched across the better part of 30 fbody sites id say there are plenty of people dropping money in them already.

as for helping them when they need help, thats pretty obvious too. you cant help them in the first place if you cant even get them here to share what they know. how did most people here learn about thier cars? from people posting who are in them.

Re: are we circling the drain?

the problem with 5th gens is that anyone that owns one is going to come to this site, see absolutely nothing about them, and then leave.

there is always gonna be 4th gens i dont see why we cant just keep this a 4th gen v6 f-body site, thats pretty much all that is here anyway, there's barely and 3rd gens.

Re: are we circling the drain?

its pretty much all it is because there isnt any effort to draw the 5th gens here. you pretty much proved my point.

No offense... but MOST people in the market for a high 20k car (5th gen) aren't going to be all that interested in the dumb **** that people post on here.

Its becoming a haven for unintelligible bull****.

Yes, but it can always be turned around. It doesnt take much, just a little effort and cleaning house (annoying bs posting members) every once and a while.

hell, just getting some new active mods would make a difference in that department.

I knew as soon as I seen this thread moved to the website section it would die off. Was it Robert that moved it? Looks like Steve was on 11-06-09 in the morning at some point...but no word of him....
