Re: are we circling the drain?

hmmm Im not sure if anyone has thought of this, but since we can't update the sites ourselves what if we just create new threads, sort of like a work around?

Like that thread a while back about cleaning out the timeslips, why not create a new thread, update it with the current best times and sticky it, at least then we could update it ourselves.

And for a "new" feature we could do like a feedback thread for sellers. Say frequent sellers can start a new thread and ppl who have bought from them could post in there about their buying experience. Then the seller could link to that thread as a "feedback history" in future sales.

We could prob do new threads for other stuff, just a thought.

If we cant get the admins to help, then we'll just work around it.

Re: are we circling the drain?

well see, here's the flaw in that, half the mods are MIA so getting a sticky in half the sections is impossible. then you have to find enough people who buy and sell here to make the seller feedback work, which with the way things are dying off, is going to be a task and a half.

plus on top of that, you have a million seller feedback threads cluttering up the for sale section knocking other peoples threads down the line who are currently selling something. so then all it does is work against you in the end.

darn. what about putting seller feedback in the diff regions section or in the lounge even since to prevent bumping sale threads down.

same thing for the time slips, what about stickying them in the lounge, its disorganized but it sounds like its the only choice we have to do something.

youd be better stickying the timeslips in the drag racing section...

that 'll work too, I was just trying to think of the mods that are still here. I know the sale section and lounge are regulated.

if the drag racing section's mod is still around that'll work just fine

True to an extent. Supers have control on all forums, so Shirl, 12sec, and I can all update and sticky threads if there is enough participation.

Just curious, if you guys are so frustrated about the way the site is being run, why not start your own? I know some guys already have done so with v6f-body.com, but personally, I'm not a big fan of their site at the moment. It's just not aesthetically pleasing to me. If someone could make a site similar to this, just as simple, yet updated often.. I think it would be very successful.

Or has anyone considered contacting Steve to see if he would possibly sell the camarov6.com domain? Slim chance I'm sure, but aside from those 2 ideas, I don't see you guys getting anywhere with this. Just let the sinking ship sink..

                  We've tried to contact Steve.

Other sites that are started struggle with poor numbers, bad ownership, etc.

                  Steve will not sell.

i am personally a fan of both this and v6f-body.com. i check each out multiple times a day to see whats goin on. i like that this site is larger and has a lot more info on a daily basis and i like that v6f-body is smaller and we all have pretty well gotten to know everyone that shows up regularly and carry on all kinds of random conversations which keeps things rather interesting, but i would love to see some 5th gens show up!

in a addition to this there is the fact that u would lose a HUGE about of information the archives here by creating another site

Considering you haven't logged on in 6 month, you'd never know if things changed or updated due to user requests and the like.

I don't like the vBulletin theme on that site, it's too dark and hard for me to read, hence the reason why I don't frequent that site. My first post over there I applauded the guys for making that site, and recommended making a lighter colored theme for those people like me. I also offered my help if it was needed since I am experienced with vBulletin. They never took me up on my offer, nor have they made a lighter theme on their own. So, its hard for me to visit a site when I cant comfortably read what's on it.

I visit a couple times a week actually, I haven't logged in because I haven't needed to. Had to do a fresh install of Windows a while back, so I'm not currently logged into the sites I normally visit. Plus, the address I had to the site no longer works, so for a while I thought the site was down. Just recently I found the new address, so I have been visiting more often.

I might could do a reverse of the current theme... have a heaven or hell version for users to choose from. Let me mull that over with the mad scientists.

I still check this site on occasion, but i spend 90% of my time over on v6f-body.com

main reason in leaving here was the lack of care and updating. I guess its just personal preference, but i really like the looks of v6fb.com. To each there own though. Its tough for a new site to get off the ground (were making head way though), however its harder trying to bring a dead one back to life.
