Another website has a hack where if you keep the mouse over the title of a thread, you can preview the first, lets say 250 characters, similar to a tool tip. This gives the ability to preview a thread before clicking the thread and opening it. This is especially useful in the General Tech forum, where topic sentences are vague and usually do not give hints as to what the thread is about. Also, the viewer could have the ability to preview the thread and determine whether he/she could offer anything useful for advice before opening.

Agreed on that one. It is nice to see the first part of the thread when someone just posts "NEED HELP FAST" in the title. I could save some time and not click on it if I knew it was just asking if this person should get a 160 or 180* thermostat:)
