the whole point is to have always been the v6 f-body resource.

bottom line is only a select few people will ever choose a 3800 v6 over an LT1 or LS1 or other v8 engine. unfortunetly, we are further limiting those few select people down to a VERY limited number of persons by the lack of upkeep on the board, the lack of a good, UPDATED modification and technological resource (we've learned alot about v6's since the last update), and for lack of a better way of putting it, some members on here aren't exactly the most polite or most helpful. When someone new asks a question, someone usually makes either a. a smarta$$ed remark toward the person, thus making them feel unwelcome, or b. just says "search it n00b", as if you are too good to just answer the persons question. WHO REALLY GIVES A **** HOW MANY TIMES SOMETHING HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP. if something that minute bothers you, i suggest you take a couple days of vacation for some personal alone time. Just take the five minutes and answer the person's question. It will go a long way to making the person feel welcome, and feel like this is a valuble resource for information as well as a fun place to discuss things.

    you wanna make CV6 better?

Change the damn banner. Dave's already working on getting it done, but people notice even the smallest changes. Changing the banner would show people that we're really starting to switch things up.

Organize more events, both locally and nationally. Dyno days, car shows, track meets, and thing like F-body week are great for gaining publicity and forge a sense of camraderie among existing board members. It feels good to know that the person on the other side of the cat5e cable is a real person.

I'm putting together the calendar, but things along those lines would really get people involved! Make CamaroV6.com window stickers. Come up with a t-shirt and have it printed, when people see it, they will visit it. It's a way for you to represent, and it's also publicity for the site!

Revamp the mod encyclopedia. Some of the stuff in there isn't produced anymore. Some more stuff has also come out. We need to work on being a good resource again instead of a bunch of post whoring dudes talking about bib's junk (no offense intended, but new people visit this site primarily for information)

Get more technical information about our cars and put it up for public availibility. sure, we can't just copy a haynes manual onto our site, but wouldn't it be nice to have a chart to show you exactly what that sensors value should be in a proper operating capacity?€

we need to work on getting our active members MORE involved aand getting our non-active members involved again. Perhaps a monthly or weekly newsletter letting people know what's going on at camarov6. People who are no longer interested will leave the site, people still interested will discover that this place still has a little life left.

Sponsors would help. People like saving money, so group buys, and special deals for members only will def. get things rolling..(SUPPORTING MEMBERS RECEIVE A 10% DISCOUNT OFF YOUR NEXT ITEM PURCHASED AT GRAND VALLEY PERFORMANCE) stuff like that. not only do we gain supporting members and more views, GVP would gain more business from the simple "sale" theory...

these are just a few ideas I have, I am more than willing to do my part, but we need to get the ball rolling somehow, and we all know who's court it is in right now.
Finally, someone hit it right on the head. If I have to listen to Chad's negativity anymore, im going to choke someone. But ALL of this relies on Robert and Steve getting the ball rolling.

THERE ARE PEOPLE HERE WILLING TO HELP, THEY WANT TO HELP, AND THEY WANT TO SEE THIS SITE FLOURISH AGAIN. ALL the people here (cept Chad) want to help badly. Steve or Robert, the time to act is now.

I can definitely get some of the wiring schematics on here from the haynes manual, if that would help. I have the time and the means to do so right now lol.

I know as a "Non supporting" member here Having places to get discounts would definitely drive me to pay that $10/year to be a supporting member here.

Right now my situation with getting ready to do a V6 swap from 3.4 to 3800, a parts place for aftermarket stuff would be great

        Andy's got the right idea.

        definitely the right idea.

i totally agree about some publicity like t shirts or window stickers, i would put one on my car with pride.

another excellent point is the mod. encylopedia.

maybe we could have an updated one for the 3.8 and the 3.4

i would be willing to invest some serious time in laying out a list of available mods for the 3.4

        ......

plus i'd love to do it.

Thanks Wes... I think if we start to get ideas together, and start to compile some stuff it will make it alot more realistic for Steve and Robert to act on it, since they don't have as much time, and we could just get the files to them and they could get it up.

If you want to work on getting the Wiring Schematics converted to a digital format, that'd be great, but just make sure there's no copyright on them...last thing we want is to get into legal activity with some company for infringement of legal use rights....

and sales/discounts are a great way to draw in new members....just go to any country club who has done it, it's all the same principal.

            Re: sponsors & group sales

andy, i don't have much experience with putting together web pages and things of that nature, but i could definitely do the research/info part of the 3.4 mod encylopedia. Is there some way i could transfer that to one of you guys and you could take that information and transfer it into a page that has pics/links to certain sections etc. ??

i have a friend who is great with web design so if i can, i'll get him to help me out, but in regards to the info/cost aspect of 3.4 mods, i can take care of that.

let me know what you guys think

I think we need to hear from the admins first in this thread as they have been MIA. You can do all the work you want, but they are the ones that need to upload and take part in it.

your right, no point wasting time.

i'd really enjoy doing it though, and would do a good job gathering info/prices etc.

it makes sense to have a 3.8 encylopedia and a 3.4 one.

but like you said.... waitin for admins...

The most active threads on this forum are the "Team [insert color] ftw" garbage that resurface every two months...So having members do something to *actively* advance the V6 community would be a great start; there's no need to pass the blame to the admins of the site. Looking at the top 20 timeslip submissions, only six are still active today; all the others have either been physically destroyed, parted out, or decommissioned from racing/modding/etc. And what do the owners of these vaunted few do with all their experience and knowledge? With the exception of 4, they sit on their "throne" and call anyone that's registered within the last 2 years "noobs." And to those that were around when those legitimately powerful cars were still running, and actually witnessed their development? They do exactly the same...they ride the coattails of their dead kings. So what's left is those who have experience, don't share, thus those that want knowledge, remain ignorant. Contrary to popular belief, slinging around 'noobcakes' isn't going to elevate CV6.

Or maybe that was all a lie. Who knows

We already know what the problem is, reiterating it didn't do anything but severely piss me off. Your pessimistic and negative attitude isn't going to overflow onto this thread. Either have a REAL suggestion, or shut the **** up.

                      Re: sponsors & group sales

well, we can't do it all at once. I think the new banner idea getting thrown around, along with updated mod encyclo's etc. is at least a START. getting this site updated should be priority 1 imo, simply because noone wants to read about products that aren't sold anymore or given only 25% of the possible mods for their car.

A fresh look will go along way.

I think the sponsorship route was a step in the right direction. It brings some colour and personality to the site and it's members.

basically what andy said in his first post is what i'd like to see.

I think once this site gets these things, we won't have all this pessimissm like we do now. people who only complain about the site, and start stupid threads titel'd **** cfv6

                      etc. etc....

get a fresh look get a fresh OUTlook.

So what I should do is get intouch with haynes and see if its cool that we use their manual in an online/ PDF format or see if they will lend us a hand and give us the digital manula for someone to post in the sections?
