  • I finally took it to the track

Today down in Pueblo we had the Import Face Off and I decided to pay my $30 and get in the Test and Tune Class. Prior to this I was your average street racer up until today.

I ran a 17.6@78 my very first pass at the track. Considering it was 100 Degrees outside and its up here at this high alititude I can't complain actually. Not bad for an Automatic. Not bad for a novice. It is completely bone stock with a bad exhaust that needs replacing. I also didn't do a burnout in the box.

It was a fun day. Sorry the video sucks but these where most of the passes. You can see my Camaro with the blue wheels getting slaughtered twice.

I prefer the strip than the street cause I can focus on the race itself rather than what could happen.

I need to work on my staging or whatever you call it. Id put the brake in and hit the gas and my car wants to do a burnout. The second pass I had a little wheel spin off the line. On my very last pass It was so horrible I ran a 19.1 at 70mph. I spun like hell of the line like trying to do a burnout and launch at the sametime.

I'm definately going back for more passes but I wanted to see what the car runs stock before I begin to play with the machanicals.

78MPH is still really low. Sounds like you have some maintainence to do.

What should I be running? What type of maintainence are we talking here? You gotta remember I'm in Colorado, Naturally cars are slower here because of the higher Altitude.
Heres the video of the pass itself.

You're brake torquing it too high. You shouldn't be spinning the tires before the launch. I know altitude makes a difference, but not a 15mph difference. A healthy car, around 1000' Density Altitude will trap low 90's all day.

My A4 trapped low 90's, so did Tease's, and Magnus' cars.

My first run was a 15.3 @ 88-89. In any case, 74 is way too low. I think the car needs some general maintenance- plugs/wires/o2/fuel filter/air filter/etc.

I calculated his DA at 100 degrees at Pueblo and his DA was 6900+ with 100 degrees outside so I think that is about right.
