Well, I was...Rhunadun (Tony) got a sweeet video of my 13.6 run which is now my personal best...He also got my run when I blew the motor :(

I'll post the time slip up a little later, along with a thread in advance tech as to what I am going to do regarding this blowin engine and it's replacement...I'm thinking I spun the bearing...then went on to possibly throw a rod when I tried to limp it home and it went Kaboom and shutter down...

bahaha...I really need to think things through right now...I think it is cheaper to stay with the 6...maybe build it a bit...I got to sit down and seriously price things out. Don't exactly have the cash at the moment to do much...

I knew I popped it as soon as I finished the run (you're right, it was 230-245ish) I ran and again the SOB wouldnt shift out of 2nd, even after I modified the trans tables...She over-reved to 6500-6600...when I came around to collect the slip I heard a faint knock...looked at the scanner and I had steady 15* everytime I even touched the throttle, and 1-2*s at idle...I knew it was toast...came around popped the hood, revved it up a little and it sounded like a marble was caught in the intake. Checked the oil and she was all sparkly...figured I spun a bearing. Tow is 3$ a km x 100+ k to get back home, and I figured I would probably grab a new short block anyways so I tried to drive it...25k from the house and I heard the knock get louder...then I heard clunk clunk clunk BOOM and she shut down...pulled to the side of the highway, tried to restart, but she was pronounced dead on the scene...called the CAA flatbed to get me the rest of the way....

Its always good to have auto club,it saved my bacon many a time when I had the LT1.

Maybe grab a late model FWD V6 with low miles and swap over your Oil Pan,Front Assc Drive and flywheel.

Might be the most economical way.

thats what Im thinking...I just looked at the buick lesabre 3.8l motors on the junkyards website...found one with 59,000km for 350$...Im going to send them a message and see what the deal is...I got to make a thread in advance tech...I cant begin to wrap my head around what needs to be done atm...all I am hoping for is that the cam and heads walk away untouched....

            Timeslip of the day folks...

            60'....1.887
            330'...5.538
            1/8'... 8.652
            MPH...85.83
            1000'... 11.444
            1/4'....13.69
            MPH...97.05

There was a wind that blew against us today...My MPH was lower then before. I'm honestly convinced she had a 13.4 in her today being full weight, and without pulling the belt...guess I'll never know.

Rhunadun has the video of this run :D...he'll post up a link in a few days I'm sure...

Congrats on the run. Was this the one done without a belt?

Sorry to hear about that. This might be a good time to go with forged and stroker 4.2 V6. Just stay with the V6. I would love to see the first NA V6 from us in the 12.

I never bothered taking the belt off, I left it on, and the car was full weight...all seats intact etc. IMO it wasnt cold enough out to do that stuff yet...I was planning it on my next trip out :(

                  I really felt a 13.4 today...Really wished I hadda pinged it.

I'd love to stay with the v6...Ive been up pricing some motors out...they're pretty cheap. Whats going to kill me is if my cam and heads are fubared...then I am pretty much back to stock :(

That's terrible news Mike. But yes, stay with the v6. I don't know if you heard the announcer at the track on your last run, but he was trying to guess whether you were running a v8 or v6. The fact that he couldn't tell, I thought was cool. It's in the video clip. I'll cut it together tonight and post it.

I had the same problems with the 2nd to 3rd shift at the track. I solved my problems with a performabuilt level 1 tranny and never looked back. You had some decent numbers on your run. I'm sure if she shifted into 3rd you would have saw a low 13.

The weird thing is, is this only happens with the slicks...but I have the speedo recalibrated for them, and the tables are fine...RPM is set to shift at 6050, and speed wise it's suppose to shift at 70km/h...yet when I look at the scans I'm at 6600-6700rpm and at 124m/h (I set the speed limit very low incase I was spinning and not reaching the speed, and that was hanging it up)

I had the tranny rebuilt last year, and the guy apparently beefed it up a bit...as far as I can tell she never slips on the street what so ever...I cant figure it out...

Sorry to hear that Mike, wait for the tear down , then maybe look for a L26 Block, for about $650 shipped ebay, or check with a scrap yard there for a cheaper price. A4 trannys are cheap also $400-$500 for really low miles same as the block.
