Re: First pass with turbo set up 3.1L

Tommorow(saturday). It will be alot cooler which is nice for a fast run.

I tuned the car the other day for 12psi insted of 10.5psi. So It "should" be a little faster.

I compared the times from my datalog(the 12psi tune) to the times of the 1/4 mile (14.37) pass datalog last weekend and as I see it my 0-100 mph time was 13.97 with the 12psi compared to the 14.49 that I recorded at the dragstrip last weekend. So on paper the car should be 1/2 second faster.

That along with a good 60ft time with the slicks should=a 13'sec pass. Wish me luck, Ill link up the time slips/and or the videos after the races.

Well a 14.03 was the best time today, and a 14.22 was the worst time. The track was so cold! It never got higher then 40 degrees today, so the track was cold=less traction! But im still happy with what I ran considering. I did jack the boost up a psi to compinsate for the 2 inch lager tires. The slicks worked well but it was difficult to dial them in so that it hooked but didnt float(wobble) when I was going 80mph+.

Heres the video link of one pass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwJORj7Nfgg

Heres the best timeslip of the day:

Heres the slowest time of the day: Also a AWSOME reaction time though:

Oh man, almost. That 60' is what's holding you back.

Keep it up and you'll get there. I'm predicting your next run would do it :burn:

Were you spinning? Cold air is good, if you can hook.

Might need more gear or converter. Wheres that thing start to spool? you have a dyno graph

Re: First pass with turbo set up 3.1L

I just squeeked the tires, really didnt spin in that video. But also I couldnt get the car boosted at the launch because I would just loose traction as soon as I launched.

Im confident if I can have a boosted launch at 5psi or so I'll rip into the mid 13's as right now my 60ft times are horrible... 2.16 or so.

This was the first day with slicks so im still dialing in the tire PSI and getting use to the slight floating of the slicks at the top end of the track.

I have 3.23s in the rear and 2800 stall convert in the car. Im at full boost(im commanding 12psi) @ 4500rpms in 1st gear (26mph) when making a pass at the track as of the other day when I launched "un-boosted".

I dont have a dyno graph but a crap ton of datalogs via laptop. There also in excel format so you can read them. Id link them up if someone wants to look at them.

The cold air was nice but the track was just so cold. Alot of people had a hard time getting traction out there.

Off to races in a few hours, depending on the amount of time trials, I may just have to jack up the boost a lbs or 2 to make sure I can crack the 13's....

Another nice cool day 50* out.

Didnt make the cut.... 14.00's today. Im having a ittermittan problem, i loose boost when the car shifts sometimes. So thats holding me back from 13's. Got the 60ft times better 2.12. But I need to see of its boost threshhold im dealing with or just a sticky wastegate.

Car was pretty constant when I made the runs. And to be honest im not dissapointed to have a 14.0 second V6 street car with sorta low boost 12 psi. But i know that boost loss is really holding me back 2-3 tenths in the 1/4 mile.

Try shifting at a lower RPM. Keep the load on the motor high.

Im just letting it shift on its own. 5600 into 2rd, 5800 into third. Its loosing boost after it shifts... 4k or so then spools back up to full boost.

Mabey my wastegate is sticking?? Ill have to really look through the car in a day or 2

Re: First pass with turbo set up 3.1L

Got some insite from another and found the problem. My wastegate spring is too soft to keep up with the 12-13psi of boost. As I tested it without the controler it made 4.XX psi max, with a shim in it=6.XX psi. And when I hooded up the controler and used the shim...it ran like a champ. A small boost loss from 1-2 but for 2-3 I actually had a boost spike at 13.79 and my command is 12.5psi

On some of the runs...the 14.05 pass this morning I went from 12.9psi to 7.41psi when I shifted from 2-3rd...I bet ill run a 13 now if the boost stays in.

Now im gaining boost! So a heavy spring will be ordered asap and the shim will help untill that comes.
