Check out this site:

It has a horsepower calc on it. Just curious.. what would be a safe weight est of our cars? Specifically a stripped (no options what-so-ever) hardtop 96 camaro? :D

I guessed 3400 (w/ driver) and had close to 200 rwhp. Of course, this is just an est.

Its a POS. It should be using 1/4 trap speed to calculate the HP, not the ET.

lol fusion

in simple english: it's the amount of HP you are generating BEFORE the drivetrain (transmission, driveshaft, etc.) Using simple numbers, let's say you have 300HP and you lose %10 by the time the power reaches your wheels. That leaves you with 300HP produced at the engine and an actual 270HP that is being generated at the wheels. It takes power to turn all those gears and junk to make the wheels turn.... 20hp in this case that is...

But that's cool that you ask these questions because we've all had to ask at one point or another. Good luck with your automotive interests.

Horsepower Results - 1/4 Mile Method
Your 76 BONNIE weighs about 4800 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 17.1 seconds. That means that you've got about 189.73 HP at the wheels, and about 246.65 HP at the flywheel.

so what if it doesn't take into account tire size, tranny gears, axle ratio, ...........

it makes the boat look good
